It's 2007 and it will never be legal because anyone can produce and grow it themselves. The Gov. can"t figure a way to tax it.

haha That's the best.

I smoke a lot of pot to cope with depression. Studies have found it to be far less addictive than even alcohol. Most people who are "addicted" to pot and use it heavily aren't really addicted to it, they're self-medicating themselves.

So whoever said psychotherapy earlier was dead on. Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.

Pot never helped with my depression. Therapy is a solid solution, but for that I prefer a holistic nut bag who recommends natural methods over prescription crap.

10-01-2007, 10:06 AM
It won't get rid of it, but it helps to stop the automatic thoughts. I definitely agree about therapy though. It's at least important to see a specialist to get some decent care. GPs are mostly idiots about mental health issues.

Try using pot for something else, I smoke pot to take other perspectives on music, movies, etc.

But to the point here, like EVERYTHING in life, use in moderation.

I think it should definately be legalized for medical purposes. I think legalizing it for recreational is a good idea too. They would have to set laws for smoking it though. Like with alcohol, you shouldnt be driving while using it for example, or doing anything else that requires one to be sober. It would also boost the economy if you could purchase it at a gas station or something.

And, as we've noticed, people break all the rules about alcohol all the time, so rules are ineffective...

I suggest that nothing be legal, not even breathing more than 20 times a minute unless its under perscription.

People break the rule that pot is illegal all the time too.

It still deters people a lot more than if there were no rules about it.

Apparently it's legal in Denver, hopefully we'll see a trend. I bet San Francisco will be the next city to legalize.

No.

It should be decriminalised - no penalty for home growing, and no penalty for possession of up to 3 ounces or so.

If it were fully legal, corporations would start producing it, there will be taxes, additives, and the price will rise.

lol. Oh wow.

I smoke a lot of pot. I do it because it's enjoyable. That's all. The rest of my life is going fine, and I don't have any academic or social problems at all, let alone as a result of my drug use.

Legalization is stupid and a surefire way for the government to charge you a ton of money for something that's already pretty damn cheap. Decriminalization is what all the silly hippies should be pushing for. Citations > jail.

decriminalization would be fine in my books.

i smoke quite a bit. it doesn't really affect anything as there's nothing going on in my personal life. being bored and alone most of the time outside of work, i started smoking a few months ago.

You could just as easily grow if it were legal as if it were decriminalised.

And the price isn't likely to rise when you take into account that the illegality of a drug bumps up the price.

lfantwister
10-01-2007, 09:34 PM
And they wouldnt be able to tax it too much, because if people find prices too ridiculous there will always be a black market and it will be like it is now

I know a gay latino dude who smokes more than I ever would. Mids though... nasty.

I want weed to be legalized but not regulated, though... part of the high is the paranoia/possibility of it being laced! I don't ever want that taken away from me!

This is a great idea and some states have taken advantage of decriminalization (mine included  ). Unfortunately federal law still overrules state law so if you're caught with anything under an ounce it's a misdemeanor, over an ounce is a felony, and if you're caught growing you could spend several years in a federal pen.

For decriminalization to work effectively, the government needs to allow laws specific to individual states to actually hold water instead of being constantly overruled by the SC.

I am definitely in favor of marijuana laws being left up to the state.

And yes, I do think it should be legalized, or at least decriminalized.

Dez_Axer

No.. Keep laws the way they are unless the government finds a way to dilute marijuana until its no more harmful than an herbal cigarette. And that's still very unhealthy.

Most anything you put in your lungs is going to be unhealthy. Who is the government to say what you can and cannot put in your lungs(hello cliched statement).

But yeah, what do you mean by "diluting" marijuana (they already do that btw, it's called schwag :thumb:), and why would anyone ever want to?

Why not? There's no real reason aside from the fact its been illeagal so long that many people would feel very uncomfortable if it were sold in stores.

People can brew alcohol themselves or grow their own tobacco too in response to the person who said it couldn't be taxed. If drugs of any kind were sold and controled by the government it would lead to a huge decrease in organised crime.

if pot were legal my mother wouldn't have a reason to take it away from me every time she found it

but then she'd probably also talk about how the devil is in the government now or w/e

gee i hope i don't end up like her
