I got distracted by the headline "Boy Found Covered in Blood, Feces; Pair Arrested".

TAMPA - After responding to a call about a 12-year-old boy wandering around covered with feces and blood, authorities in Pinellas Park arrested his mother and Reginald Neil Carr, the man with whom they lived.

The condition of the 12-year-old boy, whose name is not being released, was revealed about 2:30 p.m. when he wandered into Freedom Village, a government subsidized home for people with disabilities, at 70 66th St. N., Pinellas Park, according to a news release.

The mother's name is being withheld to shield the boy's identity.

A Freedom Village resident reported seeing the boy walking through the lobby with injuries to his arm and blood on his head and leg.

Here's how police, in their report, describe what happened next.

The facility is for adults only, and the child's presence and condition concerned the resident. Officers were called and tracked the boy to a nearby apartment. They found him lying in his own feces and dried blood. The bedroom had no furniture, only a plastic bucket for bathroom purposes, and linoleum floor covering.

Paramedics were called and transported the boy to a hospital. He had a skull fracture, broken nose and burns to his arm. Investigators think the injuries occurred over a long period, as evidenced by injuries in various stages of healing and scars.

The boy said Carr had abused him in the past few months. The abuse he described included being hit with an extension cord, struck with fists, burned on a stovetop and hit with an aerosol can. He described being kept in a room with no furniture and being given a bucket for bathroom purposes.

Detectives said the boy and his mother moved here from Alabama about seven months ago after she met Carr. The boy has no known relatives in the area. Carr and the boy's mother were arrested and taken to Pinellas County Jail.

The mother, who is 43, is charged with four counts of child neglect. Her bail was set at $80,000.

Carr is charged with four counts of aggravated child abuse, and his bail was set at $400,000. The charges are related to incidents thought to have occurred in July through September.

The boy remains hospitalized and is under the custody of the Department Children and Families.

Yeah I'm sure it happens a ton more then we think but in a news desperate intarweb age we hear about it more often. More reports, more hits, and more hits means more money for ads, and more money for ads is mo' money for everyone.

Yay! Profit profit profit.

Yep, drawing on the most disturbing of society for entertainment is an old story sadly.

Still, the fact is happens at all is pretty f'cked up. Why would anyone do this stuff?

It means you strap each of their limbs to a horse, face the horses away from each other and whip them all, resulting in the person being torn into four pieces.

GG Jude.

The native Americans used to use sugar cane trees, which is longer and more painful.

Wait, trees?

And then you whip the trees and they'd charge in opposite directions?

Wait, trees?

And then you whip the trees and they'd charge in opposite directions?

Exactly. Sugar cane trees are like bamboo sticks or something, and when stretched with ropes in toward the victim, and then releasing the slack slower and slower and slower, the pain is more substantial and the limbs tear away much slower and more painful.

Then once you're satisfied the pain was good, you all release the ropes at once and bye bye limbs.

The horses were too quick a method apparently.

I didn't even catch it until I reread your quote.

Unless we're talking about treants, or the Ents from LoTR.

Yeah I'm gonna shut up now.

Getting drawn and quatered isn't the horse thing gentlemen. To be "hung, drawn and quatered" (the old British penalty for treason) was to be hung by the neck until almost dead (not a "drop" hanging with a broken spine, a slow strangulation), then to have your stomach cut open, your intestines ripped out and your heart shown to you before you mercifully passed out or died, while the exectution shouted to all and sundry "behold! the heart of a traitor!!!". Then the quatering was having your body chopped into four bits and having them preserved, then sent to the four corners of the kingdom.

But all this is evading the one, most important question. This guy has sat down one day and thought "I will pretend to be a rock star, who should I pick?" And he picks the guitarist from fu'cking Creed. I mean, way to be gay hey.

Well, since you seem the expert, what's the horse method actually called?

I don't actually know. But I was always a gore-obsessed kid, and I found that in some book of medieval history. Mind you, what I described is called getting "hung, drawn and quatered", maybe the horse thing is without the hung?

Nah I've seen it on Faces of Death from Yugoslavia way back in the olden days. Some dude didn't pay the local baron some taxes, so they tied each arm to a seperate horse, and each leg to a seperate horse, and then the dude made the horses take off in different directions by firing a handgun, tearing the dude limb from limb. Now, I realize that most of the nonsense they showed in Faces of Death was staged and faked, but later on when I visited the Native American museum in NYC, I read about that method of being put to death and they had some crazy tribal name for it I can't remember. All I wanted was some peyote tbh. Either way they called that method being "drawn and quartered".

I dunno.

It seems to be pretty universal as a means of torture/execution. There were even rumors of Hell's Angels doing it to traitors/snitches etc back in the 60's with their bikes.
