So in between Darkthrone and Slayer i don't have much music that's good to chill out to...

I've been listening to Air - Moon Safari a lot and enjoy it. I've tried some Schpongle as well, and the Boards of Canada album Music Has The Right To Children.

That's my chillout collection, help a brother out.

Zero 7's first album sounds almost exactly like Air, so you'd probably enjoy that. Get some more Air, too. Talkie Walkie is just as good as Moon Safari.

Also try:

Thievery Corporation - The Richest Man In Babylon
Röyksopp - Melody A.M.
Sia - Colour The Small One
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works '85 - '92
Portishead - Dummy

i generally listen to electronica when i wanna chill

aphex twin's two ambient albums are the most obvious starting point

some post-rock would probably be good for chilling too.

yeah Yo La Tengo would work really well. Tortoise and Dirty Three would also be quite suitable.

My chillout musics are usually:

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Fripp & Eno - No Pussyfooting, Evening Star
Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun, Seadrum/House of Sun
Boris - Soundtrack from the film "Mabuta No Ura", Flood
Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do (Just be sure to skip track five if you're trying to relax), Richard D. James Album, Ambient Works Volume 2
OM - Conference of the Birds, Variations on a Theme

That's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Some of it might not be what you'd think of for chilling out, but those are just the albums that I'll put on while trying to zone out and/or fall asleep.

Get more Boards of Canada. Geogaddi or The Campfire Headphase.

Four Tet, Dntel, The Books.

RJD2 can go both ways. In Rare Form or Dead Ringer are good places to start.

I'm surprised to see Aphex Twin recommended... I find most of the tracks to be frenetic, with it's drill and bass thing. Otherwise, the tracks are so busy with different layers to the point where it's too complex to chill to.

the Selected Ambient Works albums are much different.

Not sure about the second (never listened to it before), but I had the first one in mind. I do think 'Richard D. James' is pretty chill-able.

Anything by Jesu, I love just relaxing to Jesu, especially the Silver EP. And if your into folk/neo-folk I suggest you try out Nest's Trail of the Unwary.

no your right, he is pretty chilled out - I hear chill and I just assume ambient...

Rhombus is pretty chilled although their first album is probably the better. Any Salmonella dub is massively chillable. Both those bands are dub/electronica bands and are awesome.
