View Full Version : www.isohunt.com bars US from using it's trackers

Noticed this today on popular bittorrent tracker www.isohunt.com.
As of earlier today, we have disabled access from users in the US to our trackers, until further notice. This goes for ALL trackers (torrentbox, podtropolis) we run. This is due to the US's hostility towards P2P technologies, and we feel with our current lawsuit brought by the MPAA, we can no longer ensure your security and privacy in the US. So, if you're outside the US, you may notice less peers. We encourage you to add other public, unhampered trackers to torrents you post, in addition to Torrentbox and Podtropolis's trackers.
Pressure must be on big time for them to do something like this. That would be effectively half the sites traffic gone i guess... what are people's thoughts about how piracy through the BT technology is being handled?

This happened on Torrentspy as well, this is what you get for having crappy MPAA and shizz. Adn there are TONS of other torrent sites you can use, don't sweat it.

I remember reading about a few things just before they did it and they mentioned why they were doing to do it and what it would mean and I agreed...I wish I could remember.
It's a shame that ever since sites like Torrentspy have really gone down the shitter.

Or you could always use an anonymous web surfer, it works for torrentspy.
But Demonoid, The Pirate Bay, and Torrent Portal (torrent search engine basically) usually get the job done for me, I never used isohunt at all.

Wow, its actually incredibly easy to get into the site. The MPAA is such a joke.
Just clear your cookies. Go to the site i posted. then use a British hosted proxy wall (a .uk address) and type in the isohunt or torrent spy address. No more than 15 secs and i'm in.

But will the tracker accept your IP address if you try to download?
Apparently Demonoid got shut down as well.

how could demonoid get shut down? The servers are in canada now.
:(
EDIT:
I found a statement from demonoid:
Ok folks, here it is. Demonoid is down. It has been for around 1 day 2 hours. The reason is down is unkown. It hasnt been RAIDed, shutdown, terminated, deleted, burned, mamed, or thrown under a bridge. There have been speculation as demonoid.com whereabouts. Well the rurmors are false.

In my country the few p2p servers and services were torn down, and their owners, are under investigation, and all the material(computers, servers, hubs, hosts and that kind o things) was confiscated
