Well, I once got my ex a gift certificate for a beauty spa once before. It was one of those places where she got to sit in mud and got mud and cucumbers in her face and all that crap.

She liked it.

edit: This also has nothing to do with books and movies.

She would probably appreciate a book of William Blake's poetry.

Or possibly Ulver's Themes From William Blake's The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell :p if she likes music.

if she's a literature student this will be hard won't it

i've bought books for girls before. When i was younger i bought a book of shakespearean sonnets, then i bought the magus, then perfume, then the man who mistook his wife for a hat, then nostalgia. The intelligence of the girls i bought them for had no bearing on the choice tho.

Or buy her a collection of Federico Garcia Lorca poetry or something.

I've gotta give Embroideries a harder sell. It's all about women and their sex/love lives. You can probably find it on the cheap and Marjane Satrapi is awesome so whatever. Maybe even get her Persepolis; it's better than Embroideries, but since you said sex-obsessed, I figured Embroideries might have a stronger appeal.

 Yeah, she's pretty cool. ;)

I'll see if I can find any of this weird stuff!

Dunno if she likes graphic novels and I'd rather get her a book than a film, because I dunno, weird books are probably easier to find than weird DVDs.

I might just end up getting her a bottle of vodka.

Nahh, she's not much into that stuff.

I figured she'd enjoy Philip Seymour Hoffman's and Dylan Baker's sexual intrigue.

"I'm going to **** you so hard, you'll be coming out of your ears. **** you..."

Joe: What do you think would happen if I got him a professional... you know...
Bill: A professional?
Joe: Hooker. You know, the kind that can teach things... first-timers, you know... break him in.
Bill: But Joe, he's 11.
Joe: You're right, you're right. It's too late.

Son: Would you ever molest me?
Father: No, I'd just masturbate.

 abound.

She's not my girlfriend, dude. She's just a friend. It's easier to buy stuff for your girlfriend, they just want useless crap.

Hmm, I forgot to mention that. =o
