Im interested in meditation, it appears to have many benefits both mental and physical, please share your experiences...

No, but for my world religions class we get to go to a buddhist temple and meditate as a field trip.

I've done some basic joe meditation, and it really is good. You've got to be disciplined if you want to progress, but it's fairly easy to get started and even if you don't get into any complex methods you can still maintain fairly tangible benefits.

What exactly are the benefits? I want to start meditating. It seems like a great thing to do.

It helps to quell life's anxiety. There was a period for me about a year ago where I would lie awake at night tossing and turning and meditating every night before I went to bed helped that a lot.
