I haven't posted here in awhile, but I have one bass done and am about to finish up another. Here are the specs:
5 String
Ecuadorian Rosewood top
Bubinga body
Wenge/Bubinga/Wenge/Bubinga/Wenge neck
Wenge fretboard
Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups
Seymour Duncan 2 band EQ with Slap Switch
All black hardware

Fairly soon I should be done with Jason's Buckeye Burl 5, it's in the finish stage. You can see his blog at http://www.jcbasses.com

Nice and very understated aesthetically... I mean that in a VERY good way :thumb:
Any shots of the back of the neck, and especially pics of the neck pocket?

The pickups look a bit far back for my tastes, and I'm not 100% sold on your headstock, but the rest of it looks great. :) It's a gorgeous top.

as a drummer i do not know a lot about basses
but i thought keeping them away from sharp rocks and waterfalls was kind of like a common thing

It really all depends on how bad *** the bass is. Really badass basses create waterfalls by accident. All of JC's basses, when placed near ground, cause small earthquakes to open rifts in the earth and water to flow, they're so badass.

Its true.. i lost a girlfriend because of it.
he brought out a new bass and the ground started shifting and she fell into some bottomless abyss.
she was wearing my favorite jacket

JC, any chance I could get an 8-string (unpaired)? We could discuss it more via email, but I really like your work.

Apart from the lack of fret markers, this is a beauty :thumb:

lovely piece of work there, personally i would have chosen a slanted jazz style arse end rather than the straighter p-bass bottom but each to their own. other than that looks truely fantastic!

Gorgeous, what would this cost me as a regular customer?

I dont want to sound critical..because there is no way on earth I could build a bass that beautiful..but the only thing i dont like is the head. It dosent go with the body in my opioion. Other than that great job.

Am I the only one who likes the headstock? I think it's a good modern shape.

I like it. It's like a Schecter headstock, just a bit smaller.

Personally I have never been a fan of fret markers on the front.

It's what the customer wanted, but I agree with you on that part.

Somewhere in the $10,000 range I suppose. ;) Send me an email if you want a price estimate on a custom bass. I'd be glad to give you one.

I have found it is a love/hate relationship with the headstock. You either really like it or really dislike it. I will always do any shape headstock the customer wants.

Ah! I think my problem with the headstock is with the tuner positions. The ones on the bottom are directly lined up with the ones on the top, so it makes the third tuner on the top look funny because there's nothing across from it.
Just imo, of course, but it would look better if the bottom two were spaced out more so that there was less empty space on the headstock.

Jared, good work, but you have a typo (I think), you said a custom would cost $10,000. I hope you meant $1,000.

Haha yes I was just kidding about the $10,000. I would never charge that much.

Sadly I don't. :( I didn't have my camera when I took the pictures and the one I was using only takes them that big.

How much do you reckon you could emulate a Ricky 4005 5 string for?

I am pretty sure it's against copyright laws to copy that bass. Or something to that effect. Sorry.
Beautiful work.....................as always.

Yeah but it wouldn't be a copy cos they never did a 5 string version :thumb:
I was just curious anyway...

Only way he could get away with it is if there were absolutely no monetary gain from it - strictly personal use.

If you guys made a special contract and he embellished on the prices of the gear he purchased, you might be able to work around it.

You could simply buy something from him for the price of the bass (a paperclip/pen/anything) and the bass could be claimed as a gift.
