Well it cant hurt. Plus it gives you tons of cool licks that most jazz musos wouldn't know. Lots of musos started off as classical guys, Herbie and ron carter springs to mind

Yes classical music will help you in all aspects of musicianship and should be studied. It especially helps with finger picking technique you can apply to solo jazz guitar.

Go for it. Classical training on the guitar is probably the best thing you could do (for any genre of music). I gives you technique, and it also gives you better understanding of things in the music etc etc.

i say yes, classical guitar will help with anything else you want to do with guitar.
i have just started learning classical guitar, and i am already noticing that i can pick out the notes in a scale all over the fretboard much quicker, and my fingers are becoming more agile.

I agree that they're not totally mutually exclusive and it'll make you a better player
but it won't make you a better jazz player. get a jazz teacher for that

Listen to some bach and mozart, you can hear where bird got a lot of his lines. The way they outline chords are very similiar.
Thanks

it will definitely help you...jazz is heavily rooted from the Baroque period. and usually when people play classical guitar, it's in the Baroque style

Well you're obviously a useless juvenile. For reasons:
1. Stating advice where you do not know anything about the subject.
2. Childish insults and retorts.
3. Being a genuine idiot.
I just thought I'd lay everything out nice and simple because you don't seem to have the mental capacity to deal with anything more.
Have a nice day.

Just when I was thinking of giving up I get you to put it in perspective. Well thank you good sir, up until now I've been oblivious of my personal shortcomings and have relied on verbal abuse as a way of curbing my true intent. You have not only spared dozens of people on this forum but yourself as well.
My communique is merely a charicature reflection of the general public here. If everyone wants to be a phony-smiling ****face boyscout then I'm gonna have to wade thru your ****. So maybe you should put it in perspective for yourself, you'll see that dealing with my **** is a small price to pay for dispensing your own.
Thanks

Not ironic; sad, because a 15 year old has clearer reasoning. Just because someone is younger doesn't mean they're less mature.

Yes it does.
Trust me, I thought I was really mature when I was 15, too. But I was actually an arrogant little prick that didn't know much about anything. Sound familiar?

No, no it doesn't sound familiar. But it does sound like ou haven't changed much since the age of 15 :thumb:
