I've heard theyre really nice, and Musicman makes quality gear in general, so I'm sure it's probably a good buy. A couple of people on here have them. I'm not a huge fan of the shape though.

The body is hideous. Almost repulsive, it reminds me of a lady bug... But their sound is top quality without a doubt.

I think this one is geared towards me. hehe

I own a Bongo 5 HSP. And I love it hands down. The shape is very comfortable when playing and well balanced. The electronics are super effective although my piezo is not really worth the $300. It's one of the most versatile basses. If you can get over the looks its amazing.

I don't think it looks that much like a toilet

They are not incredibly attractive, but they sound amazing, for sure.

Keep in mind that Bongo 4 and 5 are quite different in neck feel. I really like the 5 and didn't really like the 4.

I'd like the look if the horns weren't so square-ish

They have probably the best electronics package of any mass-produced bass.

Yes they are active (with a rare 4 band EQ)

It all more than makes up for questionable aesthetics.

I've got a orange, 4-string, double humbucker one. It kicks ***.

aesthetically, they're the ugliest basses around, well except for those headless basses.

Soundwise, they're ****ing awesome, Id love to put those electronics in a better looking bass, I'd be set.

bass - mid - high mid - treble?

I rather like the look of the Bongo. I'm kind of a sucker for unique looking stuff.

(Except Wishbasses. God, those things are disgusting.)

As for sound, I've heard that you can get basically any tone ever out of them. Having never seen one in person, I haven't been able to try one out myself.

They are, stacked bass-treble and low mid-high mid.

Bongos are amazing. If you like the looks too, then this isn't a bass to pass up.

Notice how many people need to put in their two cents about how ugly it is.

I think I just read the same post about 25 times.

They are stacked. I would know. I got 3 stack knobs because I got the piezo

volume

pick-up blend/ piezo
low mid/ high mid
Bass/treble

They are all active as far as the different pick-up configurations there isn't that much of a difference between HS and the HH models isn't that much. Either will suit your needs with a bit of tweaking(IMO the HS needs less). Although I haven't played it the single humbucker has gotten rave reviews and its the bass of choice the "bongo king" He own's like 5 bongo's.....

No, they look like toilet seats
