I have around 500GBP (I say around, I mean I could strech to maybe 650 if I wait a month) for a new bass BUT I kind of want a 5 string and I kind of want a fretless and I don't know about a 5 string fretless...

I was looking at the Ibanez ATK305, some sort of Fender Fretless Jazz (not sure which exactly), or the Ibanez Gary Willis 5 string fretless sig (the cheaper version)

Any thoughts on these basses? or any suggestions about which Fender Jazz is a good buy? Or any other basses to look at?

Cheers!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I already have a Fender 50s reissue P, Yamaha RBX270 and a Trace Elliot AH100 and Laney 4x10 cab

EDIT 2: Or I could buy this... http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Yamaha---BBT-500-H~ID~5513.asp

So many ****ing choices. :(

Go second hand! You could get a nice USA Fender Jazz for that. Check out eBay perhaps?

Yeah, I'll second that. I've just never dug 5 string fretlesses (fretli?). Not sure why!

Cheers, I'll keep my eye out, see what I can play as well. I definatly fancy a fretless, leaning towards a 4 string jazz at the moment, same colour as my p bass, nice way to remember a set of grand parents with a pair of basses!
