I'm completely new to modding basses and I want to make some changes to my SX jazz knockoff fretless. I'm painting the body white, getting a black pickguard for it, and getting gold hardware, like Larry Graham's bass sort off. I also want a white painted neck, but I don't know if the painted neck wouldn't work with a fretless for some reason. If it would work, does anyone know where I could order something like this? Warmoth doesn't do painted necks I don't think....

if painted fretboard, make sure you clearcoat it many times.

You can obviously paint the back of the neck. If you do that I suggest theat you leave a satin finish. Warmoth can paint the back. As for the fretboard, I wouldn't paint it especially for a fretless because when the colour starts to wear off and it will, it will look really shitty. Sen warmoth an email they can do anything at a price.
