Nambla barely exists anymore, if I recall.

But I'm not sure freedom of speech would (or should) apply here. This isn't about freely exercising your opinion; this is about conspiring to commit crimes against a minor.

in that regard, white supremacy movements are inciting racial hatred, 'legalise it' websites are promoting an illegal substance, and republican websites promote moronism.

its freedom of speech though. if nambla want to run a campaign to try and make it legal for a man to have sex with a boy, then let them. itll never happen.

the danger is that despite it being illegal, some people could be/are doing this already, which isnt really on

Nambla should be able to run a campaign, but it shouldn't be able to arrange meetings between members where they have sex with boys.

but they can still have meetings where they talk about it, correct?

EDIT: Not with little boys...between themselves.

Yeah, but how could they realistically talk about it if a) they hadn't done it or b) they weren't planning to do it?

The thing I've always wondered about all the e-pervert stuff is whether it a) gives an outlet to sick shi't, meaning people can get it out of their systems and not do it IRL or b) if it allows sick twisted bastards everywhere to pool knowledge and encourage each other. From personal research I think NAMBLA fits into the second category. Especially if you check out their forums.

Pretty much yeah. The members get together and swap stories, tips, ideas etc. It's like what all the anorexic girls do on their sites, or like what all the kids do in juvie.

The only thing that still exists about Nambla is the website, run by a few of the "extremists".

Their website exists for the same reason NORML's website still exists: because there isn't anything illegal about talking about what they do

I believe this is true.

Online it is very much a case of these people supporting each other and justifying what they do, whether it's a passive addiction through pornography or acting on these urges IRL. Perhaps dealing with sexual urges online can be an outlet which prevents it actually happening, but i'm more inclined to believe it sows seeds which make it more likely for someone to reach out with desire to act on these impulses.

Maybe going on those forums and talking about stuff would get you monitered by the child protection agency or whatever it is called in America? I would bloody well hope so!

If the NAMBLA website leads to people breaking the law, arrest them when they break the law. The gvnt still has no right to shut down the website that isn't doing anything illegal.

Conspiracy to commit a crime is illegal.

I made a myspace for NAMBLA as a joke. I had a ton of friends for it. Then myspace deleted it. Assholes.

Conspiracy to commit a crime is illegal.

then arrest the people who use the nambla website to conspire to commit crimes. Most of the website looks like it's used to raise awareness and state their point of view.

I don't really care about the "civil rights" of child molesters or wannabe child molesters. I don't care one iota if the government makes your office chair wedge a microchip in your buttcheek for going on NAMBLA. If you ain't a kiddy fiddler, you ain't got nothing to fear.

thats like if you're innocent it doesnt matter if the gov taps your phonecalls. It's the principle of the matter, especially for those "wannabe" child molesters. As long as they havent committed the crime they have the exact same rights as everyone else. Any fetish thats harmful to others but isnt acted upon should not be viewed as anyone else's business

I figure if you want to fu'ck little boys, you go to a website about fu'cking little boys and talk to other people about fu'cking boys, we can pretty much assume the next step

Until the crime is committed the future-pedophile is innocent and may just have dirty thoughts. He cant be convicted for a presumed crime unless you know that he's planning to pick up little Johnny at 6:00 on thursday and he wrote it down that he's going to do that

I'm not saying you arrest people for going on the site. I'm saying you keep an eye on it and make sure you know what the people who frequent it are up to.

lfantwister
09-09-2007, 12:01 PM
They still have a right to privacy though. If you start sticking microchips up their *** and tapping calls or reading papers that completely violates their civil rights. And they do have civil rights regardless of their sexual preferences

RIP Ian Curtis

Pedophilia is not a sexual preference. I refuse to use that term to justify being a rotten sick fu'ck. Being a homosexual is a sexual preference. Being a pedophile is a crime.

Being a pedophile is not a crime unless you act on your impulses. If you sit at home all day and dream of little boys it's totally fine. Weird, but fine.

Granted, but that's why I'm in favour of keeping tabs on them.

Excuse the rant, I just fu'cking hate how all these new groups of perverts stick the phrase "sexual preference" on their kink and thus make themselves immune to criticism because "it's just like homophobia". Gay rights took a long damn time to secure and it's not fair to a mob of perfectly good poofters that these sick cun'ts can nick their word.

The law doesn't necessarily define what we should and should not do so we should not surprise the right to question it.

This should be ****ing obvious.
