Sweet basses.
IMO they would look better with two j pickups instead of p/j. But that's probably beacause I like the sound better :p

Wow, the pics actually showed up for you? My site host is undergoing an attack so mostly nothing works.
Myspace does though so here's a pic of one of the completed basses.

Was the camera working? Everything is dead on my site for the last two days when I go there... The camera is at the limits of it's range though.
Guitars, there's one on my myspace pics (be a pal and go comment it!). And a 7-string in the works :)
Edit: oh yeah, myspace.com/thorbass

For now yes, just the one shape. Open to suggestions though...
Do you have an outline view of your current design?
I like coming up with ideas.

The purpleheart one is easily the nicest bass you've ever built.

You should have seen his old headstock. It was like twice that size.
And yes, that's an Alembic.

Ok so now I can finally answer this. I had put a very old set of TI flats on the fretless and it sounded like a fretless with very old strings. So I wanted to wait and see with new strings.
But first, the fretted one is active EMG's with Red Devils on it. The frets are the gold fretwire from LMII. It's harder than regular frets but softer than stainless. Definitely a slap monster. If I could slap better I'd put up a clip.
So the fretted is Bart CB series pups running passive. Definitely has that passive sound, course I'm running through my SVT so that helps too :) Nice raw sounding like like upright but livelier like an upright with a piezo mixed in. There's a little work I need to do on the fingerboard to get the action as low as I want it. But playability is still pretty nice.
Um, I guess I'll go play it some more...

Yeah, I was at work and had forgotten to upload the pics...
The 6-string barely fits, but this is the widest case anyone makes that I can find. So from now on I'll make sure to fit in this space.

I think you're design works much better with the ERBs for some reason. Its looks even better than the 4s. (And the 4s are hot as)

Ah, that bass is pretty much all Maple and Purpleheart. The top and back are Purpleheart as is the core. Not too heavy though because it's hollow. I have that bass on the wall at a local music store now to see if it'll get some interest :)

Wow I want that 6er. Amazing.
The 4s are awesome too, but I agree with blizzard, the design works better with 6ers.

I think I may be in love with that purple heart top... if only I had money to spend on parts, I'd totally build another bass and prolly use that for the top.. although in the same vein maybe a camphor burl or something equally like that, who knows. But that'll have to wait till i'm out of college or something.
ANYWAY... Wonderful basses as always! keep posting pictures as we love to see your work!
