I'm looking into some hardware bags and such for my stands when I gig with my band. I've been mainly looking at the protection racket stuff. Any suggestions anyone? Wheels look very helpful, as will a really large bag.

I got a gator hardware bag but the wheels are too small.
moral of the story: definitely get wheels, but make sure they're big enough.

I use the Kaces hardware bag, and love it. I have the one with wheels, but I don't remember which size I got and I don't have it home right now so I can't check. I think I have the 38" bag, but there's also a 46" bag.
The wheels work great on hard surfaces or carpets, but don't expect to roll it through the grass. That's not really an issue for me, but something to concider if you were hoping to be able to do that.

down here L&M deals a bag called "Levy's" back when i worked there we sent them out with all the rentals, so they went through hell and came back multiple times with no problems. Tough as **** and well priced, 2 sizes, both with wheels, look into it.

I found a hard shell rubbermaid case years ago at WalMart for $20 with wheels. Its long enough to fit all my stands (some have to be broken down). I don't use it much now because of my rack, but I used for years prior and it's still in great shape. I just couldn't see paying all that money for a true hardware case when there was an alternative out there. See what Wally or Home Depot has first.

That sounds like a brilliant idea actually bill. I've been using a canvas suitcase with wheels but it really hasn't been cutting it, not big enough for all my stands
Also, oliv, can you recommend any hardcases?

I just get the rest of the band to help me move it all.

Depending on how much hardware you have, a bass drum soft case can be used for all hardware, throne and pedal. I've also seen drummers use the Rubbermaid (or like) bins as well.

I use an enormous old suitcase that I had lying around. You could easily find one big enough at a thrift store for $10 or so.

x2 almost samestory for me. Fits all my hardware and rack, cheap and works good. COuld have 5 of em break and still would be cheaper then "name" stuff.

the thing is, after several years of use, its never broken down. The wheels are sturdy, and its flat so it fits in trunks or wherever. I have one of those big trap cases....its useless because you can't fit it anywhere, or lift it when its full. I literally haven't used it in years its so impractical.

I hear that bill. The only time my flight cases get used.. is flyin, and that ain't often. Suckers are huge and heavy. Asking for back issues using those to load in/out with for sure.
You know, we might have the very same rubbermaid cases, i got mine from target but all the same.

I've been using some POS plastic trunk these last few years. It's worked fine, but it's now in its last minute of life. But like Josiah said, they're so cheap, it really isn't a big deal.

That Rubbermaid option seems like a route I will go. My only issue is with my drum rug, its huge so I'll have to carry that seperate.
