Ok so I already play drum and percussions(for now 4 years), and guitar and I own a keyboard. I can play some little thing but I cannot say that I'm a good keyboard player.
If you guys can help me to get into it, it would be really nice.
what should I start to work on. (no scale, I know them)(I play xylophone)
some exercices, some songs, anything.
Btw, I'm more keyboard than piano. I listen to prog rock, like Dream Theater and things like that.
I want to get into soloing to.

anyway. Thx for your help! If you help me.

and if you guys have some website where I can get keyboard tabs. I can't find alot in 911tabs.com

Rule #1.

As a fellow percussionist, Xylo, Vibes, Bells, Chimes etc. give you almost no skills for keyboard :p

It teaches you basically the layout and scales etc.

For keyboard you've gotta' work out all this double handed stuff that's easily requiring double the skill it takes to do Xylo etc.

So first thing is first, find some simple sorta' stuff, get away from Dream Theatre, 'cause you'll definitely struggle with Jordan Rudess' mad skills :p

I 'spose you do some simple stuff for a while, get that down proper mad, and then you can work your way there.

This is why I said I play xylo and vibes ...etc... It's juste because I do want that people tell me to work on scales .

And I know that if I start playing some D.T. I will kill myself in the first min I play.

Anyway. The only thing I need for the moment is some song or exercises (easy) . And maybe a good website.

Edit: I just realised I said the same thing as on my first post. (of this thread):smash:

There is nobody on this section of the forum???

If you don't know how to read music, then you should learn because it's pretty important on the keyboard/piano. It's harder to tab out a keyboard piece than it is for guitar and stuff. If you already know how to read music, you could always get better. Buy some sheet music to songs that you're familiar with.

Alright man.

First one I guess, is go through your scales, playing them on Piano.

Then do it with each hand doing the same thing, but different octaves.

Then do one hand normal scales, and one hand starting from the top going down.

Then switch hands doing each thing.

Then one hand normal, one hand two notes up (of that scale).

Then switch hands doing each thing.

Then one hand normal, one hand three notes up (of that scale).

Then switch hands doing each thing.

Etc.

Just to get you used to doing two handed things.

After that, just look up some sheet music for some fairly simple basic songs, just try some more Mainstream Pop/Rock sorta' stuff at first, 'cause it tends to be easy, but gets you into doing left hand chords and right melody etc.

No clue if that'll help but I hope it does.

i think one of the first full song's i learned on keys was Black Diamond by Stratovarius, simple stuff except for the solo which you can just bypass but the haprsichord stuff is nice easy stuff to start with.

just remember to traonspose your keyboard down -1 because i learned it standard and it's messed me up ever sence.

Did you just say "keyboard tab?"

Hahaha there are keyboard tabs. They're actually a complete mess and it's plain stupid to learn with them, rather than just learn to read real sheet music, but meh.

If you're looking for fairly easy songs to learn, check out Muse. They have a few.

I listen to prog rock, like Dream Theater and things like that.
Dream Theater uses some horrible synth sometimes.

Ignore him, Jordan Rudess knows what he's on about :p

Also, the Muse suggestion is really good, if you want I could probably hook you up with some Muse Sheet Music.
