Im getting a mini strat for my kid who is VERY young and may play for a while and then stop. I got the mini strat because of the size and the price, well aware of the tuning issues of 3/4 size guitars and the fact that they are NOT that great.
But.. if she stick with it, and wants to get a bit more into harder rock. Can I replace (is it physically possible) a single coil pickup with a humbucker? If not, I guess Ill have to rely on the tone knob and effects buttons for a more growly sound.

The Strat will be good enough for a beginner. If she gets serious she can get a full-sized guitar.

Yeah, after looking around, a decent single coil size humbucker seems to run in the 60-80$ US range, which is not that much less that the guitar I got her, so I think Ill wait and just upgrade her later as suggested.

If you want some good, and cheap pickups, go to www.guitarfetish.com
And If she decides to stick to it, I suggest getting her a better, full-sized guitar, assuming she can handle the size and stuff.
