A Texas university is introducing a new course - home making. And guess who can sign up? If you guessed anyone, you'd be dead wrong.

im sending my wife there right now!!!
srsly though, what a weird concept
i guess by excluding men, they want to get the home values back to the way they used to be, so when the man comes home, he can beat the shite outta her for not having supper ready, you know, those good ole family values that made America

That's so stupid. I know a few stay-at-home dads while the mom goes off to work. They're happy with that; it works. Who the **** are they to say otherwise, that "such courses are needed to arrest the collapse of the American family and society."
I hate living in Texas.

The fact is that we have discovered that those two income households actually have a harder time by the time they pay child support and by the time they pay for wardrobes for work and the extra automobile and the time they spend eating out ... once your get through all of that our argument is nine times out of 10 that you don't come out any better
Uh huh. And who exactly did those studies and what demographics were they observing?
Christians really need to learn that if they want to play in the realm of facts, they're going to get screwed.

I don't see a problem. It's not like there are pickup trucks full of christians driving through Texas grabbing unsuspecting women off the street and making them take the course. In fact, I imagine that the only people who will take it will be women who planned on doing that anyway.

Yeah MD and DE are mid. PA and NJ are kinda borderline and anything above that is North atlantic for me. VA is pretty southern but I guess it could go either way. NC and on down is tha diiirrrty south baby.

Private school, public school, privately-owned business, publicly-owned institution, it doesn't matter.
Everyone should respect the rights of people. If I'm not mistaken, there is no law or remedial process in the US through which rights are protected from non-state institutions like private schools and employers; the Bill of Rights only protects against encroachment by state institutions.
In Canada, we have a Human Rights Code federally and provincially and Human Rights Tribunals to enforce those Codes. If you have a union in your workplace, the Code is enforceable through your grievance procedure.
Private institutions have no right to discriminate. Freedom of religion stops when violations of other people's rights begins. The idea of having this type of class in a university setting is highly disturbing to me, especially that it's "women only". The implications are staggering.

i agree that women with children and a working husband should focus more on their family than a career, especially if their husband is making adequate wages to support all of them but this isn't always the case and it's ridiculous to try and coerce the 50's family portrait back onto the wall of every household

Well, the same issues that keep any less-well-off people disadvantaged under the common law. Traditional common law courts, even if there are statutes, are incapable of dealing with labour relations (in particular) effectively. They're too slow and can't look at the employment relationship in a realistic way (common law of employment, for instance).

Anyway, having a course only for women is like having a course only for men, or white people. Of course, I wouldn't really want to do a course in it, let alone a degree so i don't mind, and nor would most Texan men, those things are for women and sissies. sry if this has been mentioned i havent read the thread but dont men and women learn differently (better) when they are in different environments; women learn better when theyre surrounded by women. it has nothing to do with women being better or worse than men, only different
