This is an odd topic I realise. However my understanding of other sub-faiths [for lack of a better term] is pretty low. What is the difference between my anglican beliefs and her pentacostal beliefs?

Well my Dad's a spiritualist and my Mother is a Methodist. So that makes me a metholated spirit.

I believe pentecostals put a veyr high value in the literal truth of the bible, and also invented gospel music?
They also have a thing about talking in tongues, if i recall.

Anglicans tend to be more sensible than pentacostalists, not always the case though.

Are you asking what the difference is between your personal beliefs, or churches? If the latter, I think it's safe to say you two can ****.

Ahh Jesus Camp. Quite possibly the scariest movie I've seen in quite some time.

Does anyone think the threadstarter asking about his own beliefs is kind of funny? If you can't even tell it's obviously not important.

Her being pentecostal, she doesn't have a problem being with someone of another denomination? If not that's strange, cause pentecostals are probably the most strict of them all.

I don't understand why Christianity even needs sects. I mean doesn't the bible say that as long as you're down with Jesus you're going to heaven?

That doesn't mean there can't be differences in practise and in the grit of belief. And don't say sects. It's too loaded a term.

I'm not asking about my own beliefs because I know them. We've talked about what we think the differences are but neither of us have studied the stuff so our knowledge is kind of stops at our individual beliefs. I Wiki'd but got lost around the discussion of calvinism etc.. It was all confusing.

Well, all major religions have sects.

It's all because some radical preacher was like "we have to all wear white socks" and someone disagreed, started their own worship sessions with their polka dot socks and everyone was happy until the next striped socks revolution.

idk why religious threads are even allowed in here they were disallowed once and for a good reason every single one of these is 200 pages of bible bashing and conservative cornholing

Actually, I'm pretty disappointed the Official Christianity Thread was allowed to disappear. I'm not against religious discussion on these boards, but it was better when it was all part of one thread so it didn't clutter the forum.
In fact, I plan to correct that.
