Ok, this thread is where we should all discuss bands which participate in New Olreans metal scene... Do we have any fans of Goatwhore, Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Down, Superjoint Ritual, Demise, Acid Bath, Crowbar, Demuredin, Volatile, Sufferstream, Southern Whiskey Rebellion, Vile Lethae, Exhordor... new or old, underground or not.

Any fans?

Pretty much every band you mentioned rules. NOLA metal rules, and this thread wins.

Who cares, the music's damn good in my opinion. Goatwhore is pretty "meh" though.

I like Goatwhore, its not ground breaking or anything, but it might get some kids into real black metal.

Meh, I doubt that.

Meh, I doubt that.

Well, some kids these days are pretty stupid when it comes to music, but there are a lot of young folks on here that know their stuff.

The New Orleans metal scene isn't really underground anymore. It's more underwater.

I like Goatwhore, and I remember liking Exhorder when I heard them ages ago, during my Pantera phase.

lol @ that whole post.

I really don't see the comparison with Exhorder and Pantera...Exhorder were/are way more thrashier than Pantera was..

I dunno, they sound somewhat the same. Anyways, I was just saying that I listened to them during my Pantera phase. Stop making me relive it!

That's messed up, but equally funny.

I lived through a worse cyclone, I'm allowed to make such jokes, according to the Cynical Bastard's Guide To The Galaxy.

I like Down because nobody from Pantera got their crappy hands on the songwriting.

Down is pretty amazing for a stoner band. Bonecrushing stuff, mostly.

Also, has anybody heard Abigail's Ghost yet? They're like a more aggressive Porcupine Tree minus the British sex appeal.

I used to be really into Crowbar ages ago, and a few of these other bands are decent. I could never get into Eyehategod though, even though they seem to be the most suggested band to represent the NOLA sound. :-/

I'm sure you've heard of Phil Anselmo's band, Down. And a few of these other bands have decent popularity in certain circles, but I couldn't tell you how well their records sell from a mainstream view.

Eyehategod is good, need to get some of their stuff again. Goatwhore is meh. In fact they're pretty bad imo.

Goatwhore is good stuff. Funeral Dirge isnt the greatest but A Haunting Curse is very good.

I was in New Orleans on Holiday the day before the hurricane. I got let into a lifehouse gig for free cause my friend had huge boobs. Yeah then we left cause the hurricane was coming. The black people all stayed. I never quite understood why. I think they expected buses or something.

I never got the appeal of Acid Bath. That was ages ago though. Should try again.

All I've heard from New Orleans is Eyehategod and Crowbar. I've been sort of meaning to check out Down and Acid Bath for a while. I should probably get to that, since I've been on a bit of a stoner/sludge kick for the past month or so.

They're lame.
