Havent seen a Shadows Fall thread in a while so...
I got the new cd a few months ago and just started listening to it again and the war within and remembered how great they are, since i was mostly listening to stuff like Death, and Iron Maiden.
I was also learning the guitar solo to what drives the weak and i noticed that its not as fast as it may sound, well to me atleast. And i just wanted to say how smooth and great of a player Jon is.
Also Brian has his dreadlocks like down to his knees now!
as seen here at download

His headbanging at their live show was awesome.

They're a decent thrash metal band with some shredtastic solos.
their most recent one is horribly average, though.
Oh shush. It isn't that bad.

Terrible band, cant stand them.
I didn't enjoy the songs I've heard by them. Maybe they're just not for me.

I have never enjoyed these guys on CD but they put on a pretty good live show. Chill guys in person too, very friendly and nice.

yeah it is, the layered yells are gone and Brian Fair's voice on its own is so horrible. Most of the songs are super-duper uninspired and the massive amounts of forced acoustic interludes doesn't help it at all.

yes sometimes i also fell some thing are forced on some songs like they are sticking to a formula too much instead of what they actually feel.

well its pretty clear they are sticking to the same formula. They have pretty basic song structures as fas as verse, pre-chorus, chorus , verse, etc. They even recapture the sound of TAoB on their latest effort.
Im not saying its a bad thing at all. Im listening to War Within right now and songs like Stillness, Eternity Within, and Those Who Cant Speak are still pretty badass songs as far as Im concerned....and boy do I wish more of their songs had the same intensity as the last little bit of "Those Who Cant Speak".

They're good. A lot of their riffs sounds very similiar though

They PWN, they are my favorite band. As far as their genre though, they're a mix of Melodeath, Thrash & a little metalcore.
