So I'm a huge radiohead fan, On their most recent CD. "Hail to the Thief" they have a song called "Backdrifts" Its got a sweet synth piece throughout the whole song. It sounds like a reverse effect, sorta. Anyway he uses a "Novation Bass Station Synth". but they are hard to find, since they are rare. So I am looking for a cheaper, more common alternative that can create a very similar sound. Any help would be much appriciated.

why not just record a synth tune and then reverse it?
it's quite possible that is what he did.

its actually not what he did, the keyboard has the ability to tweak the sound waves in that sort of way. If you watch a live video on Youtube you can see the novation keyboard and he literally only pressed 2 notes.

oh
well he might have created the patch himself, most musicians don't just use preset patches with their synthesizers, especially a group like radiohead who are revered for innovation.
i would suggest you learn about synthesizing to find out how that sound is made, then you should be able to make something similar, but i doubt it'd be exact

I am going to come right out I can say, but a big lol@redundancy.
but they are hard to find, since they are rare.

From watching the video, it looks like he's only pressing one key. That would make me guess that they just loaded the sample of backwards synth parts into the synth and set it to play when that key is pressed.
