Hey there:wave:
Me and a few friends have made a band. It is called Marlinspike. We play 60's-80's rock and a few original songs also. We consist of a rythm guitar (myself), lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard/synth, and a trombone. I know it sounds odd with a trombone, but we need it for a few songs (i.e. The Who's "5:15"). Trombone player also doubles as lead singer. We are hoping to get some gigs soon.
The name?
Well, me and my friend Henry were in a Navy Rotc unit. So we decided to give our band a nautical theme. Everyone wears navy themed clothes. You know sailor's coat, deck boots, etc. Anyway, Marlinspike, is the term for the most basic form of seamanship. Google it for more info.
We also came up with a logo for t-shirts, caps, what have you. These are going to run $5-$10. When we get them from the graphics company. So, our logo is a marlin jumping from the water, holding a spike in it's mouth. We also have a sail with the logo on it, which we drape behind us when we practice or perform live.
I am thinking about updating my clothes from just a sailor's coat to include a beret with an anchor on it, and maybe a belt with dummy-bullets on it.
Anyway, that's our band and wanted to put us out there. So everyone post with their feedback.
Thanks.
P.S.
We are not taking orders on merchandise yet. Will post when available. :chug:

To answer your question Giga, It was only a high school unit. They taught us how to march, shoot (w/pelelt guns), teach a little about Navy history, lore, etc. And to just give us a feel for military life. We had to wear uniforms once a week, do community service, I myself had 215 hours over 4 years, and drill comepetitions. We went to mini-boot camps which were a few days long, usually 3-4 days. Those were pretty much as close as we got to actual military. It was still pretty tough. The program taught me a lot and has made me a better person. I would encourage whoever wants to join. We also had rank system. I came out as a Petty Officer 1st Class. 6th highest rank of the enlisted. I could go on forever, but I better stop before I get banned for too long a post.
PS
You don't have to serve once you graduate.

way to tell us to post feedback on your band and merchandise without giving us a link to listen to you or see some merchandise.

Really, why even post, if you're asking for feedback, when all we have is your word about what you sound like.

Sorry, right now we don't have access to recording, and due to the graphic company we are unable to post pics until the order has been delivered to the buyer (our band).

But, without recordings/pictures/whatever, how will people know what to look out for? Especially on your vague description.

hahahahaha.
Idiot Martyr: dude can call me out whenever he wants. it means nothing to me. the fact that he used jersey, the armpit of america, to insult me was pretty fabulous though. got a chuckle out of me. but in an "i know you are but what am i" sort of way.
my only response....whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!!?!
however at least he knows he can be the house band for that shitty baseball team in miami.

I'll buy 200 t-shirts and start my own Marlinspike t-shirt company. I'll make millions.
When will these be available. I'm getting impatient. My cat Fluffy needs food too you know.

My guess is as soon as they have about 30,000 CD's ready to go.
