View Full Version : Where can I get Daniel Johnston tapes?

so i know that mote posted a daniel johnston thread a while back, but i was just wondering if anyone knew of a place that i could purchase daniel johnston cassettes. and not cds either, or lps. i would like some original tapes. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

His ex-manager runs a website were you can buy them. Not sure the name of it...but if you check out the movie, "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" (which is fantastic btw), you can find it on their.

yeah that is a great movie. but if you go to his site (http://members.aol.com/yipeye/), all of the original tapes are out of print. thats what made me wanna go out and find some.

Why are the tapes so rare? Did he only release on tape or something originally? I've never heard of cassettes being collectors' items.

Yeah, all like Johnny Appleseed, passing 'em out in McDonald's. The originals used to have hand-drawn art and all. Honestly though, I don't know why anyone this day and age would want the dubs. Even if they are a superfan.
