Silversun Pickups with Sea Wolf opening. Both played flawlessly. I'd never heard Sea Wolf before but I was pleasently suprised. They were almost (but not quite) as good as Silversun.
The singer for Silversun was hilarious and kept making fun of people in the audience. He could also scream like a mother ****er.
Discuss great shows you've seen lately.
Thanks

Saw one of my favorite local bands the other night, which is always a treat. They played a mostly excellent set, marred by one dud of an old song that I would prefer wasn't in the lineup. My band also played that night, so that was fun.
Also, my mom's playing in this short orchestra series right now, and I saw them put on a Copland concert on Saturday, which was very good.
Silversun Pickups. :\
I heard good things about them from some people and decided to check them out, and it was a real let down.

Really? I've always though they were very talented. As far as the Sea Wolf/SSPU concert goes, I'm sure it was awsome. Sea Wolf is a great band. Also, best concert I've seen lately was Rush in Raleigh,NC. Awsome.

I was worried though cause I spent the last of my money on tickets and gas.. i really wanted it to be a good show.
I was very satisfied :smoke:

I haven't been to a show in a while actually. I'm going to Battles in Spetember though, which is very exciting. And I'm thinking about seeing the Beach Boys in November (with Mike Love). Has anyone seen them lately and are they worth shelling out big bucks for? I'm a huge Beach Boys fan, but with no Wilsons, I don't know if its worth it.

I'd say they're just really average. They're actually on the radio quite frequently over here, which is kina cool.
When I first heard Silversun Pickups I thought they were a great modern day version of the Smashing Pumpkins, but I got bored of Carnavas pretty quick. They have some great moments, Kissing Families is an amazing song, but I couldn't listen to them for too long these days.
Shows have really dried up for me since I've been away from uni. I was going to this AWESOME Festival with Battles, Foals, Four Tet, Matthew Dear, Fridge, Liars, Electrelane, Bat For Lashes, Justice....loads of people, but it sold out and now I'm really bummed. Got Bright Eyes on the 15th but not much else until Reading Festival + Sonic Youth at the end of the month.

Pretty much how I feel about them, I still give a few songs a listen now and then though.

that's gotta suck the show i was at was 16+
which was kinda lame since I was 21 and my friend was 26 in a venue full of teeny boppers but it was still a good show.
beer was too expensive tho as always.

Last show I saw was Envy a couple weeks ago. Great band but **** crowd. Seeing Tilly and the Wall tonight, who I don't like that much, but it's free. And in a week, The Cure. :D

I saw seawolf/silversun back in may, awesome, awesome show. Sea wolf is such a great band, especially live. And silversun really surprised me, they were even better live than ont heir album.
and yes, pikul > carnavas.
the only thing i really don't like about silversun is their lyrics.

Sage Francis would be so sweet.
he was. He was also a very nice guy. After his set my friends and I sat down on the curb outside the venue and he walked up to us "Hey guys, hows it goin?" We talked for a few seconds, said he was awesome blah blah and he said he had to go. It was very cool.
