Jesu - Conqueror is very shoegaze-y and a great album.
Yeah, I've heard all of these albums, some that need to be revisited. Hoping someone can throw something new out there. But thanks everyone that's listed something so far.

anyone heard of Secret Shine? No? Check'em out. Not really innovative, but a fun listen.
Twilight Sad also have shoegazer elements. . . ya kno, if thats your thing.
OH! also theres this band called Spotlight Kid that I've been digging a bit these past days. Its new shoegazer. http://www.spotlightkid.info/music.php . I was tempted to write Nu-gaze, but was afraid of public/personal backlash.
Nu-gaze. :\
Twilight Sad is my most played artist on Last.fm.
Secret Shine...

Fleeting Joys - Despondant Transponder (biggest rip-off of Loveless ever, but it's good)
Lovesliescrushing - Xuvetyn (HEAVY on guitar effects, very gloomy and layered)
Bailter Space - Vortura
Also listen to Nadja, Jesu, The Goslings for the whole "doomgaze" thing - which means, LOUD GUITARS. And don't we all want that?

so i've never really gotten a concise definition of the genre of shoegaze.
anyone care to lay it out for me in layman's terms? or is it one of those genres that you just have to hear to understand? Like i've listened to MBV and a couple other "shoegaze" groups and i'm not a big fan but i don't really get the genre.

Basically shoegaze is when the guitarists use so much effects and overdubs that it creates a huge wall of sound to the point where you can barely pick out which intruments are which. MBV being the best example of this.
Another good pick for shoegaze would be The Verve A Storm in Heaven or Verve EP

Spectrum- Soul Kiss/Glide Divine
Spiritualized- Lazer Guided Melodies
Growing have that whole I'm on drugs and droning my guitars sound.
The Ecstasy of St. Theresa are good as well.

Galaxie 500 are pretty over-rated. Too whiney to me. They don't even sound all that dreamy/shoegazey to me :/

Awesome ****, I have a huge Flying Saucer Attack poster in my room and all of their stuff except for one obscure cassette ep I'll never find. I love them. I'll have to check out Skywave. Astrobrite rule also. If you haven't already check out Crescent.
I have a Seefeel album, it kind of sucks.

Spacemen 3 for more psychedelic shoegaze
Bukowski
08-12-2007, 12:00 PM
Hell yeah, Spacemen 3 are so good.
I've been listening to Swervedriver - Ejector Seat Reservation a lot recently. This band get lumped in with the shoegazer scene a lot, but it's not really like anything I'd call shoegaze. Maybe they were more noisy before this album, I don't know. It's really good, fun music.

I second that. Swervedriver is pretty good. Their second album Mezcal Head is probably their best and has some shoegaze-ish moments.

I have to second the swervedriver. More pop, less boring. A lot of the other suggestions are great also. I don't know if The Jesus and Mary Chain are shoegaze really, but they are good.

I think Mescaline Head would have been a better name.
I can't listen to a lot of these albums because they were released by members of the RIAA.
The library.
