I'm just curious what you guys do when you get (brand) new cymbals. Do you take off the price label on the underside of the bell, or leave it on? I've seen so many people leave it on but that just doesn't make sense to me, I took mine off when I got my new cymbals. It left a little sticky gunk that I can easily remove but just haven't gotten around to it. What about you guys? Or if you haven't ever bought brand new cymbals, what would you do?

Take them off. After a few weeks they start to look pretty crap.

I've never bought a cymbal with the price stuck on. But if I did, I'd take it off.
Probably.

i take them off. i didn't used to, then i let another band borrow my kit at a show and saw how cheesy the stickers look from the audience. from that point on i started taking them off.

I was so excited when I got my new cymbals I popped them on and started playing. I didn't even think to take them off. Maybe I should do that! lol :P

I'd take them off. you wouldn't put duct tape on your bells, would you?

Yes, because everyone is just looking at your cymbals hard enough to notice:rolleyes: Hell, 99% of the time no one is even looking at you.
I've taken some off, left some on, there isn't any noticeable difference sound-wise either way you go.

Because duct tape and a thin paper sticker are the same thing....

Surely leaving them on isn't good though?
I always take them off.....
...not that I ever buy new cymbals haha

Lol, yeah, those b*tches are damn expensive. I'm sure leaving them on has no noticeable effect on the life or sound of the cymbal. I think I've left the stickers on a couple of mine out of laziness.

I'm fortunate that my local shop doesn't put the prices on the actual cymbal they just have price lists

The only one I've bought that had a sticker was my Paragon Ride, but I took it off, because it was covering Neil Peart's signature :D

I just realized that I actually voted for the wrong option on this poll, so so far it's 100% take them off.

 B*stard!
What Oliv said though, it's the same with all four of the shops around here I've been to which stock cymbals; they have a list of prices on the wall or a handy person who knows them all, not prices stuck onto the cymbals.
And spike9908, not that it matters, but more of the audience attention is directed towards the drummer than "1%" would suggest; If there are any drummers in the crowd for example, or if the drummer is a good showperson, or if he/she takes a break or a solo. But I agree that they would almost certainly not notice the stickers underneath the cymbals.

Well, most companies like Zildjian actually put the sticker on at the factory, not the store that they ship it to.

My local store has a price list straight from sabian/zildjian hanging right on the cymbal rack.

So do I:p
I can't imagine any reason to keep the stickers on, so voted off.

I've taken mine off. Sometimes there's a lot of residue left, but I just take a soft towel and water and most of the paper residue goes away. There's still a small outline of the adhesive residue, but nothing to be ashamed of.

I take the tags off of everything else i own. they look tacky and hurt the resonance a tiny bit. no reason for them to stay on.
