Thanks, man.

It's wierd, though. For the longest time I had planned to get my bike licence before my car.

I got my full car licence 2 months ago, and only after 2 months of realizing I can't afford a car did I go out and get my bike one :thumb:

Well, how much do you want to spend? Either way, I say get a joe rocket jacket. Fantastic jackets that can be found for as little as $400 (you want leather, none of this kevlar crap). As for helmets, HJC is good and cheepish (starts around $250). The thing with helmets is that the cheep ones will protect you just as well as the expensive ones, but the expensive ones will be a lot quieter and more comfortable. Arai have some of the quietest helmets (low amount of wind noise), but they start around $700+. Shoei have some really cool designs, but once again they are really expensive. If you wear glasses, there are several companies out there that make a full face helmet that has the chin flip up for when you put it on and take it off, some of these have a tinted lens that slides down at the push of a button. Sorry, I can't remember who makes those specific ones. One thing to remember when buying a helmet is that you want one that exceeds the SNELL 2005 rating (I think that is the last update, might have an update out for 2007). Also, don't buy a half hat, those are just stupid.

Thanks, man.

I was looking at Shark helmets. Ever heard of them? I've found them for between $189-350 if it makes a difference.

Also, I'm having trouble finding any Ninjas for sale. Any other bikes you reccomend for a beginner?

I almost bought a shark helmet when I was buying stuff, but then I realised that it wasn't going to match my bike. They are good helmets. As for finding a bike, be prepared to drive to pick one up. Check ebay and autotrader.ca. Also, go into all the bike shops in Ottawa and tell them that you are looking for a ninja 250 and many shops will have a waiting list for people looking for one. If at all possible, buy one from the states because they are a whole bunch cheaper, but that might not be an option for you because of where you live. Other bike for a beginner? Nothing that is a sport bike, unless you look into the new one that Honda just came out with, CBR 125. Wont go that fast (maybe 130km tops), but it would be great for learning on and it comes with a super cool package for the new rider.

I figured as much. The closest 250 is in Toronto (according to Auto trader) so it isn't half bad. I'll check some bike store soon. Thanks for the help.

Thats a nice bike, Dylan.

How much?

Gig bag with two straps so it fits like a backpack. I only ever did this with my cheepy bass.
