is such a goddamn good horror flick. It's on the television behind me. I'm trying not to pay much attention because I've already watched too much T.V. today and I need to get out of the house, but I love it. Definitely one of the better slasher flicks of our generation.
Discuss.

It's decent, but not that great; all it did was point out most of the clichés of common horror films and then reveled in them itself. It may be smart but none of it worked towards it being scary. If anything, people wanted to be scared because they figured it was smart and edgy, so they lauded it for no reason than a smarter script and plot, even if the former is true but the latter is not.

I agree with planewreq, except the part about it being "smart."

Halloween springs to mind as the only great slasher flick; that said, Nightmare on Elm Street had a great concept that wasn't fully realized but still made for a good watch (this is disregarding any sequels, especially those Carpenter and Craven weren't involved with).

I am excited about Zombie's Halloween remake, and I think it might be the only hope to breath renewed life into this type of movie that normally dwells in mediocrity.

Halloween is so overrated, please. Nightmare Before Elm Street was better, but even that dragged.

That being said, I'm looking forward to Zombie's Halloween, even if I've hated everything Rob Zombie has done.

i also saw the first one again today and maybe it's just me, but the acting was so god awful it was hard to watch, seemed like a bad sci-fi channel made for tv movie

I never liked Scream. It lacked any kind of horror and was pretty predictable. Then there was all of the violence just for the sake of violence, which just turns me off even more.

The only really decent thing about the films is the music that plays whenever that Dewie guy is on screen.

Only problem is its stolen [from an awesome film] and really doesnt suit that character at all.

Yeah, the sound track to Broken Arrow was excellent and REALLY suited Travoltas character.

In scream that Dewey guy is just a useless twat and the music doesnt benefit him whatsoever.

I quite liked Scream. The sequels were rubbish though, especially the third one.

I haven't seen it for years though so it might not be as good as I thought.

Not a great film imo; had a really cool death in it though when he locks the girl in the jacuzzi and tries to kill her with the electric drill, then just chucks it in to electrocute her.

Cool ending too.

I liked and still love scream. But its not scary, its too busy pointing out all the cliches of horror movies, like someone said earlier.

I saw some people before me writing that Zombie's Halloween will breathe new life into the series. As much as I hope that that could be true, I doubt it will happen. It will either be ruined by Zombies love for gore and nudity, or it will be good, but will be plagued by more sequals, making it worse than the original franchise (with the exception of the original).

It looks set to be excellent, he's a huge fan of Halloween so i doubt he's going to ruin it.

Also he stated flat out there will be no sequels, at all.

Oh don't get me wrong, I hope the movie turns out wonderful, but I've heard rumors (and lets hope they are) that some of the actors are interested/signed on for a sequel. But I also hope its not ruined by too much gore.

the first Scream is a near horror classic undone by mediocre sequels. the opening scene with Drew Barrymore is truly horrific.

One of the best horror openings there is, imo.
