View Full Version : Ace Ventura 3 is on (Don't get your hopes up quite yet)

Yes, that's right: Ace Ventura 3. Apparently it's going to be one of those "son of..." experiments. Because we all know how well Son of the Mask and Son of the Pink Panther turned out. According to Variety, young actor Josh Flitter (recently seen in Nancy Drew and License to Wed, the poor kid) has been cast in the lead of the third Ace Ventura flick. Needless to say, Jim Carrey will not be involved.
David Mickey Evans will be helming the movie; you might remember him from titles like The Sandlot, The Sandlot 2, and two of those really lame Beethoven sequels. The AV3 screenplay comes from the writing team of Heimberg, Sank and Heimberg -- first-timers all around, as far as I can tell.
Our source indicates that the movie will "center on the son of Ace Ventura following in his father's footsteps by becoming a pet detective for the 7th-grade set and tracking a stolen baby panda after his mother's wrongly arrested for the crime." Production gets underway in September. No word on if this is expected to be a direct-to-video release, but it sure wouldn't surprise me.

After AV2 Jim Carey refuses to do sequels, which is probably a good thing.

I never bothered watching Dumb and Dumberer, it seemed bound to be horrible.

tbh, i liked Dumb and Dumberer. It wasn't great and it was really weird without Carey, but it's not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. It was just an average comedy.

Knifeboy

"average comedy" makes a bad movie

Ace Ventura was the best,When Nature calls was good.

But when they start adding in kids to it and such, its just not as funny.

You can't replace Jim Carreys role.

I'm sure it'll be straight to video.

Kage

Why the hell would they make this? I hope Jim Carrey doesn't sign on to it; he's moving so far beyond it, it would just be stupid and gimmicky.

I really like Jim Carrey as an actor, and I'm really hoping he doesn't let N23 discourage him from doing those kinds of roles, because I would hate for him to go back to this kind of crap.

Kage
07-18-2007, 03:03 PM
Yeah, there's no doubt he's a good actor, and while this stuff was fine for its time, there's really no reason for him to regress.

terrible premise for a movie i must say, and yes Ace Ventura without Jim Carrey is like ham steaks without the gravy. :( The direction he is going in is good, he's breaking out of being typecast with the silly comedy roles.

mmm ham steaks & gravy

wtf is a ham steak.

I predict this will be an utter failure.

Knifeboy

No.

I'd rather have him do something lame like Ace Ventura 3, than do shitty movies like the number 23

Tillius
07-19-2007, 09:52 AM
The Number 23 wasn't that bad of a movie. I guarantee you it's gonna wind up being better than this Ace Ventura 3 garbage.

lmao the number 23 was worse than plan 9

I'd rather have him do something lame like Ace Ventura 3, than do poopty movies like the number 23

It's not Carrey's fault though, it's Joel ****ing Schumacher who is and always has been a piece of garbage.

I get the feeling Carrey did it for the money or something, because I saw an interview where he seemed to be making fun of the movie himself, before it even came out and bombed miserably.

Knifeboy
07-19-2007, 01:18 PM
It's not Carrey's fault though

Definately not..
Well, other than the fact that he chooses some shitty scripts at times

Truman show is next to be sequeled without Carey I think. No it will be Liar Liar, then Truman show and then Me, Myself and Irene.

UGH!!!!!!!!!

Pet Peeve's
#1. Making retarded installments of Jim Carey films, without Jim Carey.

Seriously, there is no way or reason for anyone to try to capitalize on his previous comedy works with these idiotic "Son of..." movies etc, they will never ever be a reasonable success, and worse off than that, they will always be a pathetic movie. Take Son of the Mask - It's the worst film ever made, fact.

On Jim Carey himself, I really like him as an actor, Liar Liar, and the two Ace movies were my favorites growing up, and I really, really like his more serious roles in Eternal Sunshine & The Truman Show. He's a diverse actor, and he's proved it, anyone slandering him for doing what he wants, and doing it well, is...well wrong. His comedy movies are great, I'd love to see him do a couple more in the league of Dumb and Dumber or Me Myself & Irene, but I'm also happy seeing him in serious films, he chooses his parts well and plays them well.
I sincerely hope that he stays the hell away from any of these idiotic prequels and sequels to his older comedies, and even actively speaks against them at some point.

It was a rhino.

I as well liked AV2.

But whoever thought of thought of this new movie has a serious mental handicap.

he always manages to dodge the shitty sequels to his great movies, cept Ace Ventura 2 but that was decent

Ace Ventura 2 was excellent.. Probably one of the few comedy sequels that worked

nothing could match the first 2 ace venturas. even if jim carrey was involved. he's become a much more evolved actor, i think if he did this it will hurt him immensely
