Yorkville is usually ridiculously cheap, I don't know why it's expensive there. My old school bought them all the time because you could get a 200w amp that was relatively loud for only $200.

I own a Yorkvillle XM100C, it's actually my main amp. It's an older model, but it still works pefectly fine, and I could get a nice bassy tone out of it.

Yorkville Sound owns Long & McQuade music, which is the largest chain in Canada.

Yorkville also owns the infamous Traynor.

The amps are decent for the money, but if this store you're at is selling them up to par with those other companies, then that is a complete ripoff.

Yorkvilles are cheap. They're supposed to be cheap.

If they're selling them for that much in the States, that's a complete ripoff.

Sweet deal.

I remember there being other amps that could connect to the xm200 I own right now.

Might add a 4x10 in the future.

The guy wanted to sell me that combo for I believe it was 695$ plus tax.

I'd rather buy a 1x15 stack and then add a 4x10 cab.

Don't listen to what Sam is saying about yorkville products. They make a super reliable product that has a nice warm tone that can be made aggressive if need be. I have used a 100B (super old school) that I have been using since I started playing (5 1/2 years) and I have never had a single problem. They usually sell for around the same price as peavey, yamaha ect. Also, L&M owns yorkville, not the other way around.

It does the warm sound but how is it for the light jazzy sound?

Whichever order it is. I never trouble myself to care, haha.

However, if you reread my post I never once said Yorkville was bad.

I said Yorkville was good for the money, and that if he was being charged that much for it, then that's a ripoff.

By "cheap", I was implying that price wise, they're cheap. Not build wise.

Not really a rip off, have you been in L&M lately? That is what yorkville products are going for now, they upped their prices. I still say that they are some of the best amps for the price.

Seriously? I wasn't aware of that. I was in L&M Cambridge (RIP Murch) the other week, but wasn't looking at the bass section much.

That's a risky move on their part. A bunch of companies have made a lot of improvements to their lower end lines this year that I'd definitely be more inclined to lean towards than Yorkville...

I know you like Yorkville, and lots of other people including myself do too (8x8 cabs baby!!!), but Yorkville's reputation is built around the price point. That could prove to be a bad move on their part.

Oh well, we'll see what happens. The market's been so screwy lately anyways it probably won't make a difference.

Not sure when the pricing went into effect, but IMO they new stuff that they are popping out is even nicer than their old stuff. I think that they are trying to break into the slightly higher end market. At least that is what I gather from the price increase.

Do you know if they're making that stuff in Canada?

They make a lot of it China now after all (like every other company), but if they're going to try to pursue that realm, they should be making those ones in Canada.

I have no idea where it is made, I didn't know that production had ever left Canada.

I noticed it on some of their keyboard and acoustic guitar amps when looking at some. I also recall seeing this on a couple combos.

I'll do some research on it. Their current higher end line might still be made in Canada though. Haven't actually checked that recently come to think of it.

Might give me a good excuse to go play through an 8x8 in the coming week. Man I love those cabs. Best piece Yorkville makes, hands down.

I have never played one of those. I need to make a trip to L&M soon.

Presence and volume like an 8x10, but really really punchy. Such a punch in the face feeling.

I still have to try one with a StingRay and Mesa head.

Oh man. I can feel the punch already.

Hmm, I would love to play one of those with my status. I wonder what kind of growl you could get from it.

What Status do you have?

Well, it isn't exactly a status. It is made by washburn, but the hardware and electronics are status. It is too bad that washburn went and ruined their name by making crap, they used to be so good (mine is from 1990, when they were still made in the US). The thing has tone for days, I want a real status now, but alas I can not afford one.

Eh, the Yorkville combos are pretty lame.
