Counter strike source

hey there , im new to this neck of sputnik.
do i already need half life 2 installed on my pc to play CS source?
or is it a standalone from HL 2?

and can any one tell me why every interent shop i have tried does not seem to have half life 2 for sale ie. the game of the year edition etc..?

Yes you need to have HL2 to play CSS.

You can get HL2 and CSS etcetc through Steam - http://www.steampowered.com/
