Ah, my first thread, hope this isn't old hat here as I'm still a bit new (been on another board for a few years and really want some new digs).

So, how about it... with New Pornographers Challengers, Handsome Furs Plague Park, Great Lake Swimmers Ongiara, and now Stars In Our Bedroom After The War to name a few, I think we give some love and appreciate to America's Hat.

Wanted to get a better idea of where this board stood.... personally, Handsome Furs easily holds AOTY for me.

Hi Mr. Tsuru.

The Arcade Fire are made of win.

I'm not quite sure what that means... Neon Bible is a good album, but I think there are better this year.

Though "Intervention" still knocks me on my ***. The grandiose organ was used wonderfully on that track.

new pornographers

i stopped reading the thread at them tbh

Ah... sounds like a bad case of ADD you got there...

I still don't really understand what this threads about, but I like BSS, most Arts & Crafts stuff and other stuff mentioned in this thread. Can I join your club?

Like I said, I'm new at this board, wanted to express (and announce) myself through my appreciation of All Things Canuck (at least for the past few years, that damn country's music output has been amazing), and see what kind of reciprocation I'd get in return...

Will you be my frieennnnnnd?

The Weakerthans' 'Left and Leaving' and 'Reconstruction Site' are 2 of the best Canadian records since 2000 in my opinion. New one coming in September.

Ha! I honestly thought everyone knew what "Canuck" meant. My fiance is Canadian and I guess I took that term (edit -- not "team") for granted...

sorry!

But, yeah, Canada has basically owned indie-pop for years.

Peaches
Jose Gonzalez
New Pornographers
Immaculate Machine
Neko Case

Jose Gonzalez is from Sweden
unless we're talking about different Jose Gonzalezs, he was born in Toronto :thumb:

as for Neko Case, I assumed that because she's a member of The New Pornographers she too would be based in Vancouver

and I forgot to mention The Organ, Arcade Fire, and Final Fantasy

and to clear up any other misconceptions:

Broken Social Scene - (mostly) Toronto
Metric - Toronto
Stars - Montreal
Jason Collett - Toronto (I think)
Memphis - Toronto/Montreal
Amy Millan - Montreal
Feist - Toronto
Peaches - born in Toronto
Jose Gonzalez - born in Toronto
New Pornographers - Vancouver
Immaculate Machine - Victoria
Neko Case - my bad, yo
Tegan and Sara - Vancouver/Montreal
The Stills - Montreal
The Unicorns - Montreal
Islands - Montreal
Vivek Shraya - Toronto
