I saw this movie yesterday, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is a musical set in Dublin. Rather than being a musical where people randomly break out into song even though they aren't musicians and there are no instruments in sight, in this movie the music is heard in a recording studio, a music store, on the street busking, and other places where you would actually hear music. The two main characters, simply named the guy and the girl, are struggling singer/songwriters, sort of drifting through life. The music feels very natural to the story, because you get the sense that it is the way the people really feel comfortable communicating. Together, the guy and the girl use music and each other to take control of their lives.
The music and movie are both fantastic. It's only in a limited release, so you might have trouble finding it, but if a theater near you is playing it due yourself a favor and check this one out.
Anyone else here actually seen it? If so, what did you think of it?

EDIT: Totally forgot, here is the Myspace so you can check out the music. Listen to "Falling Slowly."

Haven't seen it and I'm not big on musicals, but this sounds cool. I'll check it out if I happen to cross paths with it.

I'm trying to get someone to go with me to see it. It's only playing in one theatre around here. :/

It's only playing in one theater here, too.

Now that you've recommended it I'm going to try and go see it.

Yeah, I had to drive like 15-20 minutes because only one theater around here had it. Definitely try to go see it.

One thing that was really nice was that the two main characters were not only real musicians who had never acted before, but they actually wrote the music themselves.

Kinda reminds me of Dancer in the Dark in that sense.

The only place it's showing anywhere near here would involve a couple hours of driving and a border crossing.
