View Full Version : Noise Rock
This is a genre which I don't know an awful lot about, but I know there are a few fans around here so maybe we can discuss and reccomend some bands in this category.
I recently picked up the new Parts & Labor album which pretty much spurred me to make this thread, might just be my favorite album of the year so far. Can anyone reccomeend more bands like this? What I like about them is how condensed each song is and also how melodic it sounds rather than the chaotic sound of some of the purer noise rock bands.
Some other noise rock bands which I dig are;
Melt Banana
AIDS Wolf
Boredoms
Lightning Bolt
Wolf Eyes
anyway, discuss, reccomend, whatever.
Acid Mothers Temple
Guitar Wolf

the stuff that Zach Hill does seems to me like it'd be noise rock.. i like it more than a lot of the other noise bands i've heard. particular albums:
the Ladies - They Mean Us
Zach Hill & the Holy Smokes - Masculine Drugs
Hella - Hold Your Horse Is
Eliminator

I like noise rock. I mean, at least it's not post-rock or indie folk.
Get anything that's on Skin Graft Records.

Not listened to Masculine Drugs yet, got a lot of stuff to get through at the moment! I have that Dysrhythmia album though and it's pretty decent.

I downloaded a couple Lightning Bolt albums after hearing rave reviews. Some of the songs are really interesting. It's weird how the parts come together. Others drone and seem monotonous.

Only noise rock band I really know a lot about is Melt - Banana. Pretty good band, but i'm not a huge fan of the genre.
There was a time when my brother seemed to think that Merzbow was great and that he could make music like him.
Because of that year or two fad, I kind of am reluctant to get into much noise.
