I watched this film on recommendation from my parents a little while ago. I'm not a big Val Kilmer fan, but I like Robert Downey Jr., so I watched it and ended up loving it. So good.

It's a half film-noir, half buddy cop movie about a theif, a gay detective, and an aspiriting actress caught in a murder mystery. There's lots of action and good one liners and a big twist at the end.

Harry: And that's how she got to the same party as me. Oh ****. I skipped something. Damn it. This whole robot bit. I made a big deal, then I like totally forgot. ****, this is bad narrating. Like my dad telling a joke. "Oh, wait back up. I forgot to tell you the cowboy rode a blue horse." ****. Anyway, I don't know ifyou want to see it now, but here's the ****ing robot stuff for your viewing pleasure. Can I say "****" more?

Anyone seen this?

Yep, it's a brilliant film, I love it.

Excellent mix of humour, mystery, action and romance. I should really watch it again sometime soon.

Finally, one of your movie threads I can get behind.

The banter between Kilmer and Downey was great. The humor was top notch. The whole thing was charming out the wazoo.

Did anyone else laugh when, at the beginning, the dad raises his hand to hit his kid? It's not meant to be funny, but in all the screenings the director went to the, audience laughed. I did too.

It's been a while since I've seen it but I don't remember a twist at the end. Maybe I should watch it again?

I did, just the look on the dad's face and when the girl's like "I'm going to be an actress" so snobbily.

I watched it in Media Studies in school when we were studying film noir. It was a great film, good plot, good actors giving good performances, and some great one liners.

I absolutely loved this movie, I worked at a movie store when this came out and recommended it to a lot of people and everyone was like "wtf?" because they thought it looked retarded.

I loved Downey Jr. in this flick, I love his style of sarcasm and how he can get sidetracked when going on his little rants.

Same, i thought it was a fantastic movie. The chick is really hot too, despite being sorta oldish.
