I like some of his older films, but yeah he's losing it.

I'm actually only really a fan of the Clerks movies.
His other stuff is nothing special.
And yes, I'm sure a lot of people see them as being boring, especially the first Clerks. It's nothing but people talking for two hours.

I doubt you are, but he has enough fans who buy his DVDs to make all of your opinions worthless.
Any who, give his An Evening with Kevin Smith movies a shot. They're Q&A sessions that are among the funniest things on film. He tells stories of writing a Superman script, feuding with Tim Burton, his wife cutting his dick, him being a portly stormtrooper, and so many other things from his life that are just hilarious. I like his movies, but as far as funny goes, they don't even compare to these.

That, Clerks II, and Dogma are about the only ones I like.
I dont know what it is about Mallrats specifically, it just bores the hell out of me.

I actually don't like his comedy films that much.
Chasing Amy and Dogma both have witty dialogue and all that jazz but they're dramas at heart.

I actually haven't seen Chasing Amy (which I heard was pretty good) or Jersey Girl (which I heard is terrible).
I like his "A Night With...." Q&A movies, too. He's really a pretty funny guy.

Clerks, Clerks II, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma are solid and well written, especially the ones i mentioned that aren't clerks ii. Jay and Silent Bob is jokes for a stoner flick.

He pulled it off nicely in Chasing Amy.

Both Clerks, Dogma, and Chasing Amy are all excellent IMO. Mallrats was pretty good. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was pretty meh, but had its moments. Never seen Jersey Girl or the Evening Withs...
meh, i enjoy most of his stuff

I've seen Clerks I & II, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is probably my least favourite, though i still found it funny.
J&SB is just horribly bad that it's good. It reminds me of Dude, Where's My Car. I'm a sucker for those movies too.
I liked Clerks. I didn't think it was epic or anything, but it was funny. Clerks 2 wasn't bad, but I still don't really like it that much (Although there's a few guest stars in it I love).

I'm a definite fan of KS, the only things I haven't seen of his are the Evening Withs and Jersey Girl, which I'm avoiding since I've heard it sucks. My faves are probably Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy but I still love all the others. J&SBSB may be stoner humour but I laughed my asz off watching it, particularly the Carrie Fisher and Mark Hammill cameos. Apparently he has a horror film coming out next year called Red State which includes a Fred Phelps(i.e. Westboro Church)-like character as the villain.

JaSBSB is definitely the worse of all his work(except Jersey Girl), but it's still funny.
And Jersey Girl isn't really a bad movie unless you go in expecting Kevin Smith's familiar work.

JaSBSB is alright. It's kind of in the same boat as Mallrats, for me at least. It's got some pretty funny moments, but it just feels like nothing really happens. Which I guess in JaSB is a little more forgivable than in Mallrats, since JaSB isn't meant to be much more than stoner humor.

Clerks II is probably my favorite.
Am I the only one that didn't hate Jersey Girl?

I didn't hate Jersey Girl. I actually found it enjoyable.
However, I watched it before I really knew who Kevin Smith was, so I didn't go in expecting some Kevin Smith style movie, which many people did.

I thought it was enjoyable too. Most of it was probably just a lot of Bennifer gossip, and just general Affleck hate going around. Liv Tyler was very nice, and the kid was cute. The story was nothing spectacular but I think Smith put some of his charm in it.

Ive seen part of "An evening with..." or w/e on youtube and found it funny. The guy is funny ill admit but the movies Ive watched (clerks, j&S, j&ssb, mall rats and dogma) just don't connect with me.

Whatever clip it was, I promise, you'll find the rest, at least, just as funny. Those two movies, regardless of what you think of his work, are hilarious because of the content.

He doesn't shut up either. Someone will ask him what his favorite part of Dogma is and he'll end up talking about watching Dora the Explorer stoned.

I liked Clerks, haven't seen Clerks 2, Mallrats was mediocre, Dogma sucks, J+SB Strike Back sucks, haven't really seen anything else. He comes off as a pretty smart guy in This Film is Not Yet Rated though.

Clerks - Pure comedy gold at its best. 5/5
Mallrats - Not quite as essential but it stills holds a place in my heart. 4/5
Chasing Amy - Almost his best flick, but loses to Clerks. 4.75/5
Dogma - Pretty decent. Though the buddy christ thing being asociated with the internet has gotten way old. 4/5
Jay and Silent bob Strike Back - The humor looks cheapened and ruined. Still good though. 3.5/5
Jersey Girl - His worst flick yet. 2.5/5
CLerks 2 - My god, it's almost his best movie in years. 5/5

Clerks I I can connect, since I deal with both aspects of that store, video rentals and cashier.
and my god, some of the people in the movie I see, I go, "GR! that happened to me!"
but I laugh, because it's all honest and what Randal says is what I'd like to say.

Hell no. I did really enjoy Clerks, despite its obvious flaws. But I haven't seen another Kevin Smith film I liked in the slightest - Jay & Silent Bob in particular was completely unwatchable.
I haven't seen Mall Rats yet though, heard good things.

The farting topic was brilliant in Mallrats.
"Did you ever fart around your girl?"
"No, why?"
"Because I farted in front of mine last week, and today she left me. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with it?"
"What, you think she left you just because you farted around her?"
"Well she was going down on me at the time."
