View Full Version : why wont my drum stay in tune?
ok so my 12" keeps going out of tune. i tune it and like 3 days later itll be out again. like way out. could this be due to a bad head? cuz the heads are kinda old.

Maybe bad heads, maybe weather conditions, maybe bad bearing edges.

have you had this problem with this drum in the past? Or is this a new occurance?

Is the shell warped??
Maybe a bad head, replace it, then see if it improves.
Other than that, weather perhaps, or maybe the lugs are messed.
I dunno, thats all the help I can give.

check the rim that is holding the head down. If that's bent even a tiny little bit, the drum is worthless. Check it very carefully and if you suspect it might be bad, order a new one, they're not a lot.

dont buy a new one yet...
take it off, give it a clean, put it back on, butrotate it a little, then re-tune.

I'd say it's prob cause the head is old/worn/warped.
Prob not the drum itself of it'd be really hard to tune it at all.
