yo, cool concept:

so when, for example, riding on a cymbal, its nice to incorpate different subdivisions (triplets, quintuplets or whatever) playing them on the offbeat.

For example, in the very artistic notation.. the triplet is played starting on the AND after 1.. There is basically 3 notes in the place where the 2nd and third quaver eats would be (3:2).

This could be counted - 1 AND trip-let AND, 3 + 4 +.

This gives a cool speeding up or slowing down feel because of the change in note values. Of course you can go as crazy as you want with this (starting septuplets on the 4th semiquaver on the bar etc.) but some simple ones such as the example i drew give a nice effect.

No picture :(

I've never heard quintuplets called pentuplets but I got what you meant so I suppose it doesn't matter at all.

Cooooooooool though.

EDIT: I see the picture now, my PC was being lame

yeah, ts a cool thing. however, ive never heard of any music that uses it, so i have yet to figure out how to count it.
