My band just finished having some of our songs recorded, and I'd like some feedback on how they sound. It's death/thrash metal, so if this isn't music you can tolerate or at least respect, then please hit the back button on your browser. Thanks.

I do the main vocals.

Sounds nice.

I appreciate the drum sound. Glaring things I'd change would be to high pass the cymbals in some areas. The drums actually have a tendency to be too bright on your recordings: Turn down your volume until its whisper level and the drums begin to sound very 'fake'.

Guitars have a lot of fizz left in that could have really easily been removed without losing much/any gain at all.

Bass is, typically, left out of the mix. If your bass players not offended by the way it sounds in this mix then don't bring it up I suppose.

Vocals, well.

Hm.

I'm not sure if you want feedback on the songs or recordings, but this is the jam session.

The recordings sound pretty good. The guitars could have sounded a little bit better, but the vox and drums were recorded very well. I honestly could not hear any bass.

As far as the songs, not my cup of tea, but not bad either. They were solid tunes, I'm sure people who are more into the Death stuff could appreciate it more than me.

I appreciate the feedback and suggestions, as well as the respect. You have mine in return.

We're still in the mixing stages, so we can still make any changes we'd like.

A lot of the quality loss is due to the fact that Myspace's media player is garbage, and will make any song sound like crap. But the guitars probably do need some work, as well as bass (we don't have a bass player, so we had our drummer's dad do simply bass lines for the sake of having them).

Just wondering. Did you guys use a click track in order to record, becuase I noticed that the music was pretty tight, and I also know that most bands who aren't on major labels don't really feel the pressure to use them as much, but I was overall impressed by the tightness of the band.

Im not into Death Metal as much, but in my opinion it sounded pretty good.

Yes, we did use a click track. We've done basement demos in the past without using it, and there is a noticable difference in tightness, as you noticed.

And thank you, it's nice to hear that people who aren't into death metal can at least musically appreciate it for what it is.
