View Full Version : the standout emo albums

iamrockzorz

So, for the past year or so i've loved a few standout emo albums due solely to this site. Those being City of Caterpillar and Circle takes the square as the roots undo and hot cross cryonics. When it comes to emo though, i'm fairly naive because i don't know much about any bands in the genre. So if you guys could help me skim through all the **** and recommend me the g00dest of the g00d.

thanks to the site and a few other peoples help i figured i should check out these bands...
gospel
jerome's dream
i would set myself on fire for you
life at these speeds
funeral diner
moss icon
off minor
saetia
you and i
city of caterpillar
orchid

Add to the list, delete from the list, recommend cds? help? i love emo :-( i want more.

srsly cmon now you havent heard Saetia yet? Get their discography (A Retrospective) asap.

The Moon Is A Dead World by Gospel is good. Chaos Is Me from Orchid is a must have. Moss Icon Lyburnum (I think its called that) is also very good.

Adding to the list, try out Swing Kids (discography), Portraits of Past - 01010101 (especially if youre into stuff like CoC and CTTS, this is kind of like their precursor), Palatka - An End To Irony, and Neil Perry - Lineage Situation.

EDIT - And try out Pg. 99

Get Up Kids : emo or not? they sound like those midwest emo bands but other times they sound like a pop punk band.

bottlerocket
06-15-2007, 09:34 AM
I don't really consider GUK emo. Mostly pop-punk with heavy midwestern emo influences earlier in their career...then they moved away from that influence and became more pop-punk.

GUK are so good, though.

Depends on the sound you want. My personal favorite is Gatefold but that isn't as similar to the stuff you are familiar with, so I'd go with Chaos is Me.

Gatefold is more eclectic than Chaos that's why I think I enjoy it.

Gatefold has more standout tracks and a more emotional feeling to it then I think the others do, though my favorite songs are from Chaos is Me and Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow which are "Epilogue of a Car Crash" and "...And the Cat Turned to Smoke".

No, Im looking at going in New York.

Not many people around here are into hardcore and its impossible to find a good drummer, so I wouldnt quite say the music scene is good around here.

it isn't that good, but its not as bad as it could be. theres some fun venues and ****. lawrenceville moose/roboto/smalls... i can't find a good drummer, it does suck. i've been looking to do an emo/hardcore band for a while now but no one is interested. i was thinking about new york but it's probably so saturated there

lol i've played everything from grind to pop punk to metal to goddam blues

and not one good drummer. there arent even that many to choose from anyway

brb imma make food

It is not hard at all to find Heroin's records.
I don't live by any record stores, so I do all my shopping onine, and all I could find was on Smartpunk.
