Hey guys, what do you think about these basses? Im looking at picking one up for a starter bass and one i could play in a band with, possibly do some gigs. Im looking at one for like 100-150, is that a good price for a used one? Thanks

They're probably some of the best basses in their price range. In retrospect, I should have bought an OLP and a Roland combo for about the same price as my starter pack. Anyway, for your purposes an OLP would do nicely, just bring somebody you trust who has some kind of experience with basses, just to make sure the bass you buy isn't gimped in some way.

Yeah, it makes a great started bass and you don't get much more bang for the buck at that price range.

I pretty much stated nothing new. :upset:

what about an amp i can practice with? i have a 300w PA w/ 15" speakers, do you think i can get away with useing that for an amp til i get enough $$ to get a good one? I would prefer to get a decent, loud amp no high end 1000 amp lol.

Excellent basses. Well built, solid tone and good value, easily good enough for starting up and getting into gigging on. They do have quite thick necks though, I found my fretting hand fatigued faster than on basses with a thinner neck.

Thats more than good enough for a beginner, forget about buying amps or speakers for a good long time. If anything get a 25w Marshall or something else small, so you can carry it and a Bass around to your guitar playing friends houses to jam.

No idea, not with regular use and I can't see why you'd need to 'crank it' though

I <3 my MM-2. That thing has taken so much abuse, and it still plays great.

great bang for your buck, ive got the 5 string in black, and it plays well, string spacing is tight, tone has a fair bit of growl but a great first bass.
Also ive kinda defretted it now, so hopefully it should sound just as sweet.

You don't quite grasp the pineapple thing, do you?

As stated, solid basses for their price range.

Do be warned, they can be a bit hit and miss in quality. Get an experienced bassist to go with you when you go look at it again.

That is the most poorly placed pineapple I've ever seen.

Haha, what a loser.

Using fruit as a piece is so ill.

Anyway,

I've said it on here a billion times and I'll say it again: OLP Musicmans are THE best beginner basses. They're a great value, sound awesome, and look good.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend one. :D

Yeah, I knew which you meant. It is pretty cool, but I am not a huge fan of tort pickguards.

yeah like i said, that bass to me is just something that stands out from all the squiers beginner basses and stuff. And it sounded mad good, to me at least, great neck also.

Ha, REINER and Dfelon are still going at it in the mod forum. Every thread in there has turned into REINER vs. Dfelon for the fate of HC/E. It's so funny.
