Have any of you tried out a Schecter CV-4? There's one at a local music store and I played it there. The tone control was great with a 3 band eq, mm and j pick ups, blend knob, and a "slap" switch. Well I looked it up on the internet and it turns out it was discontinued. So is there anything I should look for when I'm buying a discontinued instrument and what are your opinions on this bass if you have played it.

i played on a while ago.. last summer, i think.

nice bass. if you like it, buy it.

that's really all there is to it..

So there's nothing to buying a discontinued bass? I thought there might be some issues I might run into. Thanks for replying Thonk.

There are plenty of reasons for a perfectly fine line of basses to be discontinued, I wouldn't worry.

Can I ask what problems you think you could potentially encounter because the instrument is discontinued?

I've finished thread titles before but I left it out for suspense. I was thinking that I would have trouble getting it fixed or parts for it if I needed them.

I'm a bear, I could fight both of you with both of my eyes closed and one paw behind my back... my enormous, hairy back...

P.S. is that slap switch anything like what EMG sells? Basically it scoops out the mids?

Yeah it scoops the mids and accents the highs a bit. It makes it sound like a ray almost.
