DIREWOLF - the sum of all beheaded beasts. The embrace of mountains within. The fuel of curses. The acceptance of loss. The tragedy of life and the promise of death. In extreme circumstances the cosmos will unite to form a beast that when summoned will come to conquer all - the circumstances are indeed now very extreme, thus DIREWOLF RISES AGAIN!! - Direwolf's Myspace

I searched everything on this site and there was absolutely no mention of the band, so I thought why not introduce it.
Direwolf is labeled as Technical progressive Black metal, although I'd call it more of Technical progressive epic fantasy metal. You guys don't want to miss this. It's a project by Mike Lerner, the guitarist (not Warr guitar) of Behold, The Arctopus. He does all the Vocals, guitars, bass, and drum programming.
And if you aren't a fan of B,TA, no worries. This project sounds nothing like them. It isn't chaotic and all over the place like B,TA. If you are a fan of Cynic's guitar work, I would definately check this out. Adding to that, any fans of the ridiculous epicness that Bal Sagoth presents in their music should check this out.

I listened to the first track and all I could think of was Symphony X.

Cool though, I'm having a listen to the other two now.

I didn't make that connection the first time but you're right.

The faux-English vocals make me laugh.

Not too bad, though the bass and drums sound a bit industrial. It does remind me of Bal-Sagoth in a way.

Very strange but pretty enjoyable, though not in large doses.

Obviously Tojes isn't in touch with his inner Fantasy.

No actually I like highly technical stuff, but the problem is it gets boring pretty fast, or it's extremely fun and diverse, which is rare nowadays.

I hate most technical music, but this is interesting enough with all of the cheesy synths and voiceovers to keep my attention.

Metal needs more flute nowadays.
