It wouldn't let me change it when I was making the thread.

I think Corey Taylor's an OK vocalist, but as far as metal goes, bad idea.

It might not half as bad as it sounds.
Anthrax is a great band, if Corey takes it in a nu-metal direction vocally and thematically it will suck but he has potential no doubt.

Taylor is one of the worst vocalists in "metal". Obviously this whole thing is disgusting and won't be worth even thinking about listening to.

I would need a credible source to even begin to believe some whack sh*t like this.
And if it is true, it's an insult to "metal".
I thought you liked Slipknot.

Are you serious?
I can't decide, on one hand I think I thought you liked them and on the other I think I knew you didn't.

Joey is the best vocalist for Anthrax. Having Corey in the band is a joke. Hopefully this is just an experiment. I should walk up to that Slipknot asshole and give him a Fist Full Of Metal!

Even tho I like Slipknot, I think the idea of Corey joining Anthrax is bad. He's better off satying in Slipknot.

Its just a rumor, but I've heard it on the radio and sputnik. But he is deffinetely going to do some vocal work on the next Anthrax album.I think it will alright as long as he doesn't do any screaming.
To Everyone:
There's a video interview of him saying that he's been working on songs with them, and that they've talked about him becoming the singer.

It would reflect worse on Slipknot rather than Anthrax if he joined the band.

We're all doomed.
@Kage: Well, it's kind of a mixed bag. The first half of Iowa is good to jam out to once in a while, but musically speaking, everything (else) they've done is a joke to me. It's kinda like Hatebreed; some good jam-out music, but absolute sh*t as far as talent or musically intersting things are concerned. I have absolutely no respect for Slipknot as musicians.

*shudder*
This might work, but I am definitely not optimistic about it. So far, I am very skeptical that this will turn out very well. I truly can't see Corey Taylor in Anthrax. At all. (But since the first Anthrax stuff I ever heard was the stuff that they did with Joey and that's the stuff I'm used to, perhaps my opinion is a bit biased.)

Here's the actual info from Blabbermouth.net:
As BLABBERMOUTH.NET reported earlier today, SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed that he has been working with ANTHRAX on material for their upcoming studio album. Speaking to Rock Hard magazine, Taylor said of the possibility that he will become the new ANTHRAX singer, "It's been banded about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about. Obviously, I'm really good friends with those guys. It kind of started as a joke. And then the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I'm gonna at least help them out. It's kind of a dream come true — ANTHRAX is one of my favorite bands. We're just kind of taking baby steps right now. I know that we worked on about eight or nine songs together that I've written lyrics for, and there was a song that I had actually written for them that I was just gonna give them the music for, and once this kind of happened, I had to turn around and write lyrics for it myself. But there's nothing definite right now. It's one of those things where it's like we're just gonna kind of play it by ear and just see what happens. So there's nothing definite. It's something that we're talking about — it's something that we kind of wanna do. But I'm in two huge bands right now. So it's like I barely get enough time to sleep, let alone do another band. . . I'm gonna be busy, period. I'm just kind of honored that they would even consider me. These are people that I grew up listening to, these are guys that I had the privilege of getting to know on a real basis. To have them look at me and go, 'You know what? We would love to work with you,' it's such a huge compliment. It kind of makes me feel like I've come a long way in my life."
A video clip of ANTHRAX performing its cover of the PUBLIC ENEMY classic "Bring the Noise" with Corey Taylor at the 2003 With Full Force festival in Germany is available for viewing at YouTube.
ANTHRAX announced its split with Joey Belladonna in January, less than two years after the group's classic lineup reunited for a "25th anniversary" tour. A replacement singer will officially be announced at the end of June, according to guitarist Scott Ian.

I have mixed feeling of this. I was never a huge Anthrax fan so it doesnt bother me to much, but still. I think Corey Taylor is a decent singer, his vocal performance with Stone Sour isnt bad. Its not great but it destroys the stuff he did with Slipknot. I think he can either pull it off or be absolutely horrible depending on the vocal approach he takes. It wont be as good as the old Anthrax though.

Yeah but is Armored Saint even active? Thier last new album was seven years ago... Does he have another gig I don't know about?

I just hope he doesn't sound like anything he's done on any Slipknot records.

Armored Saint plays occasional shows in LA and Europe.
I meant just good for him personally, for not getting involved in that sideshow.

Too bad... yea... right. John Bush is the worst thing that ever happened to Anthrax. Joey Beladonna was their best singer, and he had such a punk voice.
I personally think that if Corey just sings, and lets the guys write like they always have, it'll be great.
Punk voice? Are you kidding?

Who gives a crap,
Anthrax are like 45 years old and dress like the year 8s at my school.
80s Thrash bands should learn how to die gracefully and quit while they are ahead.
see Vio-lence
But Vio-Lence quit before they were ahead.

Gotta agree that back in the day, Joey was a great singer, but not a PUNK one. Far from it actually. In my opinion, he had more of a traditional metal/proto-power metal/late-70's hard rock voice. But now Joey ain't too great. Let's just say that older age-especially for guys- can do a lot to a voice. And aged he is. (Well, drugs can wreck a voice too, but I'm not really sure if Joey was a hard-core druggy. ^_^) So I can't really be upset about Joey being gone again, but I don't like the band's choice for his replacement. Again.

Why does everyone rag on John? He's a great vocalist. And I did a write-up on Armored Saint last week that should answer some of the questions posted here.
As for Taylor... it could be tolerable provided they don't let him scream or attempt any of that stupid "emotive" crap like the deep breathing and groaning he used to do in Slipknot.
^^ John is great, he's way better than Joey.

It's not like he's BAD... it's just that John didn't exactly seem to fit the band. He's still a great vocalist. Just not what I would've wanted as an ANTHRAX singer replacement. I'm not totally against John Bush like some people are, though. Some people will flip out if someone DARES say John is better than Joey, and vice-versa. (At least the arguments that ensue aren't as amusingly vicious as the Metallica vs. Megadeth crap. Both sides make me laugh. :D)
