I don't have many specifics, just a snare drum that would sound good for both metal and grooves, and last a long time. And a good snare drum, price isn't really an issue, though nothing ridiculously expensive. Suggestions! Thanks in advance!

no issue but reasonable?
look into a Mapex Black Panther. amazing drums, decent prices. look into the maple drums if your looking for an all around performer.

Tama Artwood. Best snare for the price, and better then some costing $100 more

After hearing almost every black panther...i can honestly say, the Black Beauty BLOWS it out of the water...honestly...ebay it...They're AMAZING.
EDIT: But if you can't find one...get a BP, they're the next best thing...

DW Edge snares are nice as hell. Kinda pricey and a bit on the heavy side, but great snares nonetheless.

I ended up going with a Black Panther 14x5.5. I've tuned it up, and did some toilet paper dampening and it sounds awesome :).
Thanks for the help.

The drummer from my band has the hammered brass Black pantha and it is insane, i can honestly say that at many small venues it never needs a mic, so loud and punchy.
I also have a BP deep forest cherry maple snare, i wudnt trade that for can create many different sounds with it.
