Hello! I don't really post here ever at all or nothin, but I've started up a project with a couple of friends (http://www.myspace.com/helenkillerband) and we decided we want to program some better beats. So this means that we're looking for some drum software, and a decent MIDI controller. Our needs are pretty basic, so we don't need anything too fancy. Just some software with some good heavy drum sounds that'd be useable with a kind of techno-y/electronic/dance sound, and a MIDI controller that'll work with it that won't break my wallet.
Any suggestions? I am really a total beginner on the topic so, if you need me to tell you any more, I'll do my best.
Thanks,
-GG

M-Audio O2 controller is about $100 (probably cheaper on the 'bay) and works nice.
as for software, you might get better results asking in the "Jam Session"

Well we ended up getting the M-Audio 49 key MIDI keyboard and the Korg Kontrol Pad, which comes with some basic software, so we'll see where that takes me. Thanks Chip

Yeah.
The M-Audio Trigger Finger isn't a bad option either (as apossed to the Korg)
For software I'd recommend Native Instruments but that ****'s really high end.

I tried some Native demos.
Don't remember them off the top of my head, it was an Organ one though.
But it rocked so much, definietly If I had the money I'd use NI.
I couldn't figure out how to use the demo as an Ableton Plugin though.
I'm just a moron.
