Any other Reuben fans here? I guess they're rock, but they're absolutely amazing. They deserve to be so much bigger than they are, and I can't wait for the new album.
So, discuss Reuben I suppose.

I don't think much of their new single. It's kinda cool but kinda boring too. Still, they have two awesome albums, so I hope they come up with the goods on with the third.
Probably my favorite type of sandwich.

Yeah, it's good, just not...Reuben good.
I still have very high hopes for the new album though.

Hey cool, someone found this thread.
Turns the album was probably the best album of 2007 after all, excellent!

Favourite song is probably Missing Fingers, favourite album right now is In Nothing We Trust. It's just so amazing, a subtle evolution of their sound, and it just works so well. Greatest screaming in the entire universe.

I just love the anger and emotion he puts into the vocals on We're All Going Home In An Ambulance.

The line "And I hope to God she chokes"
When he shouts chokes it's just...amazing. Even better live. I saw them in a small room of the Carling Academy in Bristol, and they wanted to move to the bigger room, but they couldn't, so it was like 2-300 die hard Reuben fans in there, everyone knew every lyric, it was amazing.

Exactly! That's the emotion I'm talking about. I used to listen to that song before football games just for that part because it got me so pumped and pissed off.

Sweet. How did you end up listening to them, your location says you're in California? I was under the impression they were mainly a UK thing.

I got a sampler out of a UK mag and I loved what I heard.

Cool, well you find great music in all kinds of places, bet you feel lucky to have heard that sampler!
One of the most fun bands in the world in my opinion.

That's exactly how I feel about the new album. I'm still not too big a fan of 'Blood, Bunny, Larkhall' but 'An Act of Kindness' more than makes up for it; nevermind 'A Short History of Nearly Everything'!
I wish they hadn't have messed up with their Christmas single; it would have been cool to hear some of the best screaming in contemporary rock in the Christmas charts.

So what genre would they fit into exactly?

I wouldn't say they fit into any genre "exactly" (like most good bands); unless you call their blur of metal, pop-punk and lighter rock a specific genre. They aren't completely out there in their sound, or anything avant-garde-ish, so very roughly I'd describe them as a rock band that is happy to bring in a small selection of influences from other musical genres to make great sounding tracks. By comparing tracks like 'Cities on Fire', which has an abrasive sound, to say 'Lets Stop Hanging Out', which is pop-punk bliss, or 'Good Luck', which is a bit of an acoustic romantic ballad, you would see quite a difference in their 'sound'.
But I'm a massive fanboy of this group so don't listen to my over analysing of their sound which, in an unbiased world, should be called typical Pop-Metal.
haha, made up a genre there. Ah feck it, they're too good for genre to even come into it.

No, I think you hit it right on the head there, rock that brings in influences from multiple other sub-genres.
Can't wait for them to come to Bristol again, I went on my own last time because my mates left it too long to get tickets. I just went in the pit though, and had fun.

I agree. They are pretty broad in the way of genres and styles. I really like it though. There aren't a lot of bands that can play so many styles and still pull it off pretty successfully. I just considered them hard rock.
