A lot of my favourite metalcore bands usually add something new to it. Hm.
Cursed (metal and hardcore, so mathematically they're metalcore but they dont sound too much like others of the genre)
Curl Up and Die (lots of grind, sort of like Converge musically though)
Converge
Between the Buried and Me (okay, this is really, really questionable. Not much metalcore in their sound at this point but wtf ever).
Poison the Well (Okay, I've only heard YCBY but I love it)
Glass Casket are pretty solid
Every Time I Die (Hot Damn!, Last Night In Town)
The End (Mathcore, wtfever)
Botch
Buried Inside
etc etc etc

I was thinking today, i really don't know if I would consider Converge metalcore. I mean, they fit the description perfect, metal meets hardcore, but they don't sound like metalcore, or what it has become known as i guess.
That's only because most people think metalcore is limited to generic second-wave bullshit like norma jean (sorry mappy)
The Black Dahlia Murder.
I just consider them melo-death
Oh and I forgot to mention Dillinger Escape Plan. One of my favourite bands but really dicey genre-wise. I'd say they could fall under metalcore.

All Shall Perish, Their second album is more metalcore, the first was closer to death..
Killswitch Engage work, they've got their own thing mastered, Unearth are an amazing bunch of players, their drummer kills, there are a few others. God forbid have got great guitar players, their last album kicked ***.
The problem with the genre is that it made it so big that now we have 50 killswitch wannabe’s and 50 other emo-core pop bands…
The few Metalcore bands I listen to, I totally love. 7 Angels 7 Plagues and Botch are probably my favorite.

I like a lot of what I've heard from All That Remains. Between the Buried and Me are excellent, but they're really just prog metal because they draw their influences from so many different genres (even some black metal in The Primer and some of their other vocal parts). Unearth are extremely overrated imo. All their breakdowns sound exactly the same. Some bands do good breakdowns, but not Unearth.

I don't really know what metalcore is. But bands I've heard described as metalcore that i like include Caliban pretty much one of the forefathers of the genre I've been told [they're like a German Killswitch Engage, but heavier and unlike KE they knock out some amazing songs]. From Autum to Ashes are a big favourite but as someone mentioned they're more 'post-hardcore' [I don't really know what that is either to be honest]. I never could stand Underoath but recently listened to Define the Great Line again and I am hooked, just superb music. Bring Me The Horizon are quite good, clearly influenced by death metal. Sound similar to The Black Dahlia Murder but more brutal at times. I like bits and pieces by 36 Crazy Fists and As I Lay Dying but haven't devoted an awful lot of time to listening to them. Between the Buried have some incredible songs. Poison the Well obviously, althought I'd argue their first album is more straight up hardcore than metalcore. Everything since has been much more melodic and experimental. I also like It Dies Today even if they're percieved as a cheap imitation band by many. I can't stand Botch. They come across as an influential band who every 'cool' kid has heard their favourite metalcore, hardcore bands quote them as an influence and have decided they like them. I think they are severely lacking in the inability to write a good song. If you want mathmetal check out Mudyavne [joking]. Althought at least Mudvayne can write the odd memorable song.

Architects are decent, their new album leaked so I might check it out.
June the 9th in this country. I might review it actually.
But BFMV aren't that bad seriously. They're riffs are well done and the drums are ok. Fair enough the lyrics are appalling but still.
And whats that I see someone with a BMTH aviator. Thought everyone apart from me despised them on this forum.

They're not amazing and never will be granted. And the majority of their fans are young or pre-teen posers but they write some good riffs and the solo's ain't bad.

Good riffs? What riffs? Surely you're referring to their over-usage of the breakdown.

Yup, breakdowns killed their album.
RetiredAt21

I wouldn't say just the breakdowns. Everything about them screams "generic as **** and we wouldn't be around if metalcore wasn't hip right now."

I have to agree, Bring Me The Horizon do have some pretty killer riffs. The "every first born dying now" part in Pray For Plagues is cool, and the one near the end of Off The Heezay is pretty sweet. Black And Blue has a few cool ones too. Overall, they are awful, terrible breakdowns, most of the songs are just horrible, but they do bust out a good riff here and there.

My favs are (in no particular order):
- All That Remains
- The Human Abstract
- Killswitch Engage
- The End
- Becoming The Archetype (They changed their style in their new album a little)
- Everytime I Die (They were amazing in a concert I went)
I don't consider BTBAM and LoG metalcore, but theyre awesome

Metalcore now is almost nothing like how it used to be. Listen to a band like Rorschach and then listen to a new band like August Burns Red and you'll be able to hear the difference. Metalcore nowadays is more metal than anything, you can't hear the hardcore influence in most bands today.

They are very good, but they kind of got old after a couple weeks. Road Home To Panther Creek, Tough As John Jacobs, and Gusty Like The Wind are the only tracks that hold up past then.
