Here's the situation:

I need a sampler with beat slicing abilities. I have turntables and a few synth keyboards that I would like to use with the sampler. The MPC seems to be the best and most widely used sampler; however, the price can really hurt when your building up studio equipment. I came across the Kaoss pad (+ on the effects!!) and the Roland SP606. Which of these would I get the most out of as a DJ and Electronic musician/MIDI controller?

I would say the Kaoss, by far. Its sampling abilities are decent, and it has a load of excellent effects including granulisers; not to mention the coolest control device ever. As a sampler, it'll be good; as an effects unit and controller, it'll be great.

Note that this refers specifically only to the KP3 and not earlier versions.
