Before Brand New's album (The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me) came out, several demos leaked onto the internet. Sadly, I never got to hear them- I only saw the lyrics which were amazing- especially "Untitled_01". I heard these songs were better than most of the album. I know they were pulled because they leaked, which is a shame, but I want to hear them sometime in recorded form! Is it true that they may put an EP out with some of these songs? Does anyone know where you can get the demos? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of the demos made it onto the final album. I don't remember which songs they are, but ya, a couple are on there.

bands that pull songs due to them being leaked are just pretentious ie metallica

but i do like some of brand new's stuff

If you are into the downloading thing, I could email them to you. I doubt you will see an EP with the songs on them. Untitled 3 / Brothers was released as a b-side on the Jesus Christ single along with an alternate take of Millstone. It's like $2 at Interpunk and Smartpunk. Untitled 3 was also redone with different lyrics and different guitar effects and released as a b-side on the Sowing Season single that came with the preorders of the album.

Yes, three demos did make it to the album:
Untitled 6 / Mamas became Luca
Untitled 8 / Yeah became Sowing Season (Yeah)
Untitled 9 / The Edge Take Over for Vin became Archers (the two versions are very different though)

I may have left a song out, but I don't think I did.

I swear like Untitled 9/Archers only share like one line, at the most.

I'm uploading them now. Let me know if anyone else wants them.

Speaking of the demos, they've been playing Untitled 5 a lot live lately. :)

True, but their chorus is the same, aside from the lyrics.

Is it just me or does ''TDAGARIM'' have a load of Nirvana influence in it? Acan anyone else hear it?

Seriously, the only similarity is the chorus vocal melody.

It should be noted the demos were awful and it's a good thing BN put together a good album after that, or I would have shot them.

Noted V. I heard good things about a few of them though, so yeah.

And most of what Jesse writes is awesome, so I probably won't be too disappointed.

I didn't really like The Devil ... , most of the songs were quite similar. I haven't been a Brand New fan long, but I downloaded all the albums, YFW sounds like quite alot of the other emo bands (TBS etc), but deja entendu really is out of this world. The lyrics are simply some of the best ever. And as I said before the latest one was too repetitive for me though it is a good album. Incidently I downloaded a song called "Car" by them. Was it on an ep or what?

This whole post brought the lolzz.

1. TDAG songs sound no more similar than the songs on their other albums do especially YFW.

2. TDAG is their best album, Judging by your post you are most likely young and will hopefully appreaciate the quality of TDAG when you grow older.

3. Brand New are not remotely Emo, neither are TBS.

4. Car is a Built To Spill song that Brand New covered.

Car is a Built to Spill cover.

It's the B-Side to The Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows single.

It makes me laugh when people act all indignant about a mischaracterization of emo.

Ganondorf
06-10-2007, 02:12 PM
Same, I mean we all know what he meant by saying ''emo'' so there's not point in repeatdely adressing its' ''incorrect'' usage.

lyke omgz, 50cent is pure em0 to da core. he survived billions of bullet wounds, and nuttin em0 than dat.

The demo's are quite awesome to at least listen to for yourselves. I personally think if the quality of the demo's were up to par with DAGRIOM, they'd be possibly better. But both are good none the less.

Untitled 5 is the only song that should have made the album imo.

bottlerocket

I think all of them should've made it.

Plus, they weren't finished. They were just very simple chords and lyrics. He was probably going to build on them. I'd love to see him get back to them and make them professionally done.

PietroCrespi

I think 4 and 7 would be really good songs if they were "professionally done" but they would sound out of place on the album. Untitled 1 would have sounded out of place on the album too. I think if it had been kept, it should have been left just as it is because I think the rawness adds to the song. I do have to say though, Untitled 3 (Brothers) > Coca-Cola.

What happened on that day?

I turned 9!

Oh, my bad. I just downloaded a couple of them (Degausser acoustic, Brothers, No Seatbelt at CBGB's, and Sowing Season from KNDD) in the past week because I already had most of it and I'm not interested in live stuff. They all worked at that point.

I got Brothers from there for this thread:

It's the myspace of somebody on the Brand New street team message board. I can't think of their screenname.

I guess they've been taken down though. If you need them, I can email them to you.
